I don't think they're poorly managed, I think they're poorly owned....if that makes any sense. IMO Chayka at 28 is a better GM than Benning with all his years of NHL experience, sadly.

He was just Canadas best dman at he worlds last season.

If you have a top pairing left dman who can put up points he is just what you want to anchor that pairing.

There's no "deserve" in this, it's just a random draw. Colorado is a poorly managed team, so is Vancouver, they don't deserve anything for showing incompetence imo.

We are rebuilding. You do that for the draft, you would get way more in picks and unproven prospects.

I want a toronto rebuild. Not a buffalo rebuild.

You add players like that in 3-4 years time if you have any holes that you need to fill. Use areas that we have stocked up to make trades to fill holes. We have no idea what we will need in 3-4 years when we are ready to make the playoffs again.

Neither of those players are doing anything for this team except helping use stay out of the basement which is where we need to be.

It's not even close, come on, Matthews is more of the Stamkos ilk, a great shooter/goal scorer. That's not to take anything away from Matthews or Stamkos, awesome players, but they're not in the same league of McDavid or Crosby.
