Well, the question we need to ask now is who needs defense? Colorado does, but they probably would not have been taken a Dman picking #1, but at 4? Four is probably still too high, but maybe they choose to trade down now. NJ could use defense, but not at #1, Philly no, Dallas?, Van I'd say no, Arizona? - sskkoo1
Vegas is a good possibility. Liljegren would be a solid #8 pick. Risto, McCabe, Antipin, Ghule, Liljegren is a nice future for this franchise, especially if Antipin can tranlate his game to the league AND after seeing the bils make quality football moves at the draft, I'm cautiously optimistic

Agreed. But I think Vegas goes offense at 6, there seems to be more offensive players at the top of this years draft, so I don't see them passing a guy like Tippet up. I'm not sure if the the first Dmen doesn't come off the board until pick 7.

According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, it's "very possible if not probable" the Bills will replace GM Doug Whaley.
As detailed in a report by Joe Buscaglia of WKBW Buffalo, La Canfora is hearing that Whaley is on thin ice and could soon be replaced by Panthers assistant GM Brandon Beane. The Ringer's Michael Lombardi made a similar claim earlier this week when he said that new coach Sean McDermott "is making all the moves in Buffalo." Per La Canfora, a decision on Whaley's future in Buffalo could come as soon as Sunday morning. Stay tuned.

Well, that's interesting. Maybe it will be Whaley and the entire scouting staff as rumors suggest.

I've been really liking these guys lately as far as metal goes

I know the sound kind of really sucks, but seeing the guy play makes it that much better. The fact that he picks like half of those notes and doesn't just sweep the whole time is crazy.
IMO too much being made of Whaley not making appearances at predraft presser and McDermott being public face of Bills. Seems to me Whaley has definite speech problems and is clearly uncomfortable with public speaking. Being married to someone with speech impediment I understand his problem. It may not be he doesn't have answers, but becomes flustered and cannot clearly express his thoughts. Really think that some in the media make too much of the one voice philosophy. If we are judging him solely on peformance he should go. Lol as typing this got breaking news he was fired. Oh well.

Wow. Both teams making the pink slips rain. Both teams searching for a GM at the same time.
I honestly think Terry Pegula is killing my love for Buffalo sports. And that's saying a lot, given the grief of being a Buffalo sports fan.
I do not like this "whatever means possible", "burn as many bridges possible", destroy everything in my wake/leave no stone unturned attitude toward winning a championship, which is Pegula's stated goal.
Sorry, I'd rather have none than the way he's doing it. This is bad Karma and if any of you for one second think he won't up and move either team in his pursuit if he deems the city to be the problem, think again.
It's just such a bad taste... And again, I'm over 30, so I've lived through the last 27 years of Buffalo sports starting with the 1990 Giants Super Bowl. None of that wavered my fandom.

Wow, you'd rather have no sports teams than this? I couldn't disagree more. I like knowing our owner has deep pockets and has invested way more than just money in our community. I also like that they want results for their money and are not content suffering mediocrity for the millions they give out. Ill take this over sixteen years of Regier and Ruff, for example....a strong owner would not have put up with their act for a decade and a half.
The pink slips may send a message that a job here is not just a meal ticket to potential executives and even to players.

I tend to agree here, the larger mistake would be to leave Whaley in charge for longer (or Bylasma or Murray). When he bought the teams he admitted he did not know much about running sports. It is different than other businesses and he is getting better at it (I think). Firing people and admitting the direction is wrong is hard to do (as well as finding their replacements) but I really like the McDermmot signing (obvisouly hoping it translates to wins within 2 years, this years schedule is really daughnting) and like the direction (Candidates chosen for search) the sabres GM position is going. How many teams switch owners and win it all right away? Especially with a known rebuild (for both?) as the first thing they did?
