Say buffalo ends with a top 3 pick, whats more valuable. The pick or Sam Reinhart?
Which would be more likely to get someone like Hanafin? - robz228
probably worth the same. Reinhart is more likely to get you hanifin cause hes played 2 years in the nhl |

It sounds like a top 3 pick will equal Sam Reinhart or thereabouts. If Carolina wants Sam for Hanafin, fine. But, if they want Sam and a boatload more, than just move the pick back to the 6-10 range, take your pick of the top defencemen and wait a year for the kid to develop a bit more. It's not like Hanafin has been tearing up the league, anyway. And, we still have Guhle who will be a rookie this year to deal with. |

The pick is worth more. It's always worth more when you give the team a chance to make a choice |

it makes sense, but this is a weaker draft at the top and reinhart is already an nhl regular.
most teams favour that a bit more. |

I for one am ready for the Sabres to hand the GM reigns to Fenton and Housley the Head Coach. |

Looks like Chad Pennington. Ugh.
No arm strength.
Not sure if I like it. Next year they are probably going to take another QB - rmiethaner
Haven't we seen enough big-arm qb's fail? It's a 5th round draft pick that has a fair amount of upside.

I'm of the mind that you should take a QB almost every draft or at least every other. It's the most important position and likelihood of success is lower than most others. Keep the ball rolling, if Cardale isn't going to be more than an average backup it was worth the investment. |

If Reinhart was a star, yes. He's not worth a top 3 pick in his own draft let alone this one |

except he might be in this one.
Bob Mckenzie whether by accident or not basically called nolan patrick a good 2nd line centre.
That kind of says it all there. Youd think a team like carolina who is trying to make the playoffs next year would see Reinhart as more valuable going into his 3rd year and unlikely to cost too much $$ over the next few years. |

Hoping we can get a top3, I think we have like a 1 in 4 chance of moving up. |

6th was the pick that saw the biggest jump last year so 2 years in a row may be doubtful.
while i love the idea of winning the lottery, this isnt the year for it. |

Some of us Kool-Aid sippers think this may be the last time we are in the top 10 for a long time. May be now or never.
I'm saying Avs, Vegas then a wildcard like LA. |

id love to sip that too but TM peed in it.
It may very well be but drafting top 3 almost eliminates all flexibility with that pick(hardly ever moved). At 6 you can trade down or out for an nhl ready player. |

Dammit Tim.
Can always move back if you're top3 as well, even though that is rare too. There are good players coming out of Samson's "weak draft" every other month it seems so perhaps that pick isn't the thing to move anyways. Who knows. |

Not enough to warrant a top 6-9 pick and a former #2 overall with promise and proven success. If I am trading away both it will be for a much more solidified defender in return. |

And Reinhart was supposedly in a very weak draft as well.
Not trying to pile on Sam, but we have exactly 1 player worth a top 3 pick in any draft, and that's Eichel.

Well, Beady's suggestion was Reinhart, a top 3 pick in this years draft, and then adding on top of that for Hanifin. To give up that much I need a defenseman returning in the Doughty, OEL, Karlsson conversation. |
