Re: Gordong.
Do you see the difference there?
Taylor Hall is about .75ppg over his first 2 seasons
Sam Reinhart is about .56ppg over his first 2 seasons.
Those are not close. - BeadyEyedDouche
But do you see what you're doing here? When you have a point you want to make, you accept the math, and try to use averages to prove your points.
But, when I said Reinhart averages 20 goals per year because that's what the math says, you dismissed it. When the math says Kane is a 20 goals per season player, actually a 25 goal per season player, you dismissed it. But, then you choose to accept the averages that prove Gretzky was a great player.
You either accept the math or you don't, but you don't get to choose when. |

Those two things aren't remotely the same.

I think the top two spots are out of reach though. Unless Pageau scores the OT winner and McDavid loses this round
edit: I still think it's ridiculous the guy that auto-drafted and literally hasn't played at all is in the lead - chilliard77

Yes, they are. Discounting something because you only did it once is absurd no matter what you're discounting. |

Ok, so when Drew Stafford's name is brought up, we will make sure to call him "30 goal scorer" Drew Stafford

its not discounting its more the label that is given to the player or how hes identified
like david clarkson once scored 30 goals, but nobody was every calling him a "30 goal scorer" if that makes any sense

He scored 30 he's allowed to be called a 30 goal scorer. You're right I do like to argue, but, generally, I only argue about what I actually believe. Sometimes I don't, but this isn't one of those times. |

It's NBC, not NBC sports, or if you're in Canada or Buffalo and have Spectrum CBC has a preshow on now. |

You're cherry picking your data. You just wanted to use the actual statistics to prove Hall was much better than Reinhart in their first 2 seasons. But, then you want to dismiss the math when it comes to Kane. You can't have it both ways, we're done here on this topic. - sskkoo1
I'm not cherry picking. Hall, while being injury prone like Kane, has still shown to be a consistent scorer. Sure, I'm actually kind of surprised Kane averages 26 goals per season prorating his career stats but we have no way of knowing for sure if he would have been potting 25g a season. Just like we can't call Reinhart proven or a proven 20 goal scorer until he does it consistently. ROR, for example, averages 18 goals per season. If it weren't for an abnormal season where he scored 28 goals, that would be much lower. Likewise, if it weren't for a 30 goal season FIVE YEARS AGO, Kane's numbers would be much lower.
Also, Kane shoots a career 9%. That's not great. So it means he shoots a lot and doesn't score at a high %. And he doesn't make up for it by creating rebounds, scoring chances and assists like Eichel for instance, who's just under 10% for his career so far yet has shown that when he doesn't put it IN the net, he's at least creating scoring chances for others by placing the shot in an area that allows others a chance to capitalize. Kane just whips it around the wall and out of the zone half the time. He's not a smart shooter.
And I like Evander Kane, it looked like he really turned it around this season and started shooting smarter. It remains to be seen where he goes from here.
BTW:
Hall career .84ppg
Kane career .60ppg
Reinhart career .56ppg
Hall is a level above both of them. |

Screw it, I'll give you one parting gift:
Jay Bouwmeester (3rd overall) gotten for less, Dougie Hamilton (9th overall) gotten for less, Dion Phaneuf (9th overall) gotten for less. All three were more established than Hanifin is and all are top10 picks.
Dougie - 1st and 2 2nds (less than Reinhart and a 1st)
Bouwmeester - 1st, 26 year old goalie prospect and low end prospect
Dion Phaneuf - Hagman (2nd rounder), Stajan that scored 20 that year (3rd rounder), vet depth defender and the 191st overall pick from the year prior
Dougie was 21 when traded, Dion was 23 or 24 and Bouwmeester was 26?
So I guess Jay Bow was a bit older, but the others apply. Just goes to show how your opinions don't stack up right when under scrutiny. You see the Hall for Larsson trade, one that was a real head scratcher for most of the league, and think it's the "new bar".
You are wrong. Accept it. - RhinoFan
Boston's management has been a poop show the past 5 or 6 years.
Dion was 25 years old and signed to an albatross, ludicrous contract and couldn't be GIVEN away.
Boumeester was 30 when traded.
All of them were not cheap acquisitions.
Check yo facts bruh. |

That's what I thought, NBC. But the game starts at 8 and I see a wine show on right now, so, I guess my question is, is the game going to start a bit late? Are they just skipping that 20 minutes of lottery hype? |

Hey now, this is not even comparable. There couldn't be 2 more different roles in an organization than players and coaches. It's a lot harder to win a Stanley Cup than it is to score 20 goals every season.
