Who the hell does this?
I love the guy because he saved the Bills, and will spend money as the Sabres owner.
I would probably disagree with 100% of his political ideals, and I don't really care because that's a separate issue entirely - sbroads24
I linked an NBC article last night with a comments section worth reading. Check NFL.com comments sections or any other website that lets you comment from your facebook profile. Almost unanimous wanking over Pegula being a self-made man. |

I Would consider swapping 1st rounders with a team like Anaheim for Vatanen. Pick up a d-man that can play now and still pick in the first round. - MCGUIZZY
I agree - I mentioned swapping firsts with Anaheim and getting Manson or Theodore in return and several here said Anaheim would reject that. Not sure how Anaheim perceives Vatanen vs Manson vs Theodore but I'd pretty much take any of those guys. |

Ultimately, fortunes are made by decision making. Yes, you need laborers and support below you to make things happen, but ultimately, it's how and where you utlize that support that makes you successful. For that reason, I never really bought into the "you didn't build that" line of thinking. Give me a bunch of resources and a management position in the automotive industry and I probably run it into the ground, instead of make money because I know next to nothing about it. - buffalofan19
With a last name dating to the Mayflower, and if your Dad graduated with a 2.5 average from Harvard, thus allowing you to go to Harvard, you can fail in that management position and still get another job. Those people don't know what they're doing either. They just don't have much of a conscience, so they're fine laying people off for the betterment of the "corporation" |

Can you imagine if that's the guy that leaked the new GM being hired before any of the actual sports media?

Yea I see Vatanen as the guy that gets moved. If not him then Fowler. We also have two 2nd round picks this year so perhaps one could be added or a player. |

I sort of hope they deal the pick for a youngish guy who can step in and play on the blueline right away. There are quite a few opportunities to do something significant even that is just drafting the dman you mentioned.
Would it have been nice to be 3rd? Sure, better asset for trading/picking etc. But yeah, life isn't over. - Phatjohnsn
So I think we should just take a player at 8th. Issue, to make a trade for a young (top 4) D man is not cheap. No way 8th overall gets you that player. How about 8th overall, Baptiste and a young d (not slated to be top 4, Stephens?) for a young top 4 d? That sounds closer to what it would take.
How many teams are looking for a young top 4 D?
Tampa (willing to trade Droiun)
Toronto (rumor mid last year was willing to trade Nylander)
Buffalo
Pittsburgh could use a young D man (not sure they have much to trade to get this though)
Washington will have an opening with Shattenkirk (when he does not resign)
The list can go on. There are teams that have young D they need to move or will lose one during expansion, sure. Still don't think they are "giving" us one without paying a very nice price.
Sure you see a Fowler type, 1 year left at $4m, can only expect him asking for $5.5+ next contract.
Truth is, even if it takes a little longer, drafting one of the top D at 8th overall (in this draft) will be cheaper / easier / better than trading for one.
I say go for Will Butcher (same thing as Vesey last year) and see if you can get him in.

That's my point. Why people are singing the gospel over Pegula becoming a billionaire, in one of the worst industries for the environment, when it was people like us doing all the hard (manual labor) work and making all the poop money, while at the same time these same people are always the ones saying THIS IS A BLUE COLLAR TOWN!!!! is dumbfounding.
The literal only thing that separates the working-class from the middle and upper-classes is the opportunity for education or the money to have invested in something, or the knowledge that comes with the culture in the first place. Look at the entertainment industry, it's almost universally full of people from middle-class backgrounds.
Now, a lot of people are/were and would be happy just going to work in a factory after high school and living a simple life for the most part, yet we don't even have that option anymore. We have to struggle to find terrible jobs with awful working conditions and hope that nepotism somehow saves us some day.
There are 90 million unemployed adults in America right now. Only 8% of them receive unemployment benefits, and that's where the skewered numbers come from when we gets manipulated statistics.
Yet if "poor" people didn't have to worry about pennies so much, had access to the knowledge and education that more affluent people do and weren't treated like such dirt for their circumstance, this country would have a lot less problems.
Thank god Cuomo made SUNY tuition free. Now maybe people like me can go and finish their degree, or even better, people who couldn't even sniff a college course can finally get some edumacashun. - BeadyEyedDouche

Are you sure?
But really Edmonton drafted the best player in the world with a ton of already skilled players from drafting first overall!
Granted there isn't a player on the Sabres roster that Nashville would trade PK for other than Eichel!
What I meant by being like Nashville is having an amazing top 4 with some very skilled fast offensive players that top 4 can get the puck to! - Stripes77
I see your point of view but that defense of Nashville is crazy they legitly have 3 number one defenseman ..
If we can somehow get that speed and that balance of that team I'm all for it |

Would cost way more than that. What is last time you saw a 1st round pick land a player (none goalie), straight up? (with nothing being added on either side?) |

And multiple bankruptcies, bailouts and loans in upwards of millions of dollars.
But I disagree. I think most of it is luck/good investment advice and industry projections.
You would run your automotive industry into the ground because you stand no chance of making a realistic competitor to the model T, which has been the industry standard for just over 100 years now when it comes to building vehicles. Corporations would bury you before you even got a chance to make a profit and if you did, you'd be bought out in a heartbeat.
You can't make those decisions without a workforce, though and while they're self-dependant, I'm gonna have to always say the little man is more important. |

Landscape is a little different today than most years, especially for Anaheim who may be losing a guy to expansion. Its worth calling and I'm hoping the new GM is doing so. I'd deal a first for Vatanen or Theodore but I honestly don't think either is worth that straight up. |

Dougie Hamilton
for
15th overall and 45 and 52 overall.
That might be the best choice here (recently).
I guess the truth is, I cant remember the last time a top 10 pick was traded (when it was known what the pick actually was). Last I know of was the Scheneider trade for Devils from Vancouver (9th overall). |

I follow both teams on Facebook, I regularly read NFL.com and NHL.com comments sections in regards to articles Buffalo-oriented, I creep but don't post on buffalorumblings.com, go to this super awesome roomer site called hockeybuzz.com and generally try to read the comments section of any article Buffalo sports related. The vast majority of Buffalo fans (I'd say a good 3/4), including a lot of my friends and family, can't take their Richard out of their hand when talking about the guy. |

Oh I meant at an established corporation in the automotive industry. I am not qualified to be the CEO, CFO, COO, or C-whatever-O of any one of them, even one that's virtually fail proof. I could run the model T company with all sorts of resources and I probably would still run it into the ground.
