Its already reported that they are protecting Varly. Which is the right move in my mind. Hes still the most talented goalie they have, finally getting surgery to fix a 2 year old issue of his. Hes a fragile guy mentally so if they didn't protect him and still had to start for them...he would be rattled to the cage. The fact that Roy didn't talk to him when he left and still hasn't apparently has really bothered him..
They really like Barberio and want to keep him if they can. Andrighetto and Grigs would be guys they would to protect. But I don't know what the unsigned RFA thing means. If they can be selected without being signed or have to contact the RFA and get them signed to count as the selection. - DDM-Coga
RFA skaters have to be QO'ed to be selected. UFAs can be signed, but then Vegas can't pick a player from that team. I think it might be different for goalies. But I know I read that RFA skaters have to be QO'ed in order to be picked. I just don't know the deadline for tendering QOs is.
If he's that fragile do you really want to go forward with him? Especially if any of this smoke turns out to be fire with Duchene and Landeskog and even Barrie to an extent. They'd clearly be heading in a rebuilding direction. I was thinking leave him exposed as a dare to Vegas to take him. Is Pickard in any way a future #1? Pickard's numbers were somehow better in the NHL than the AHL last year in the same amount of games. |

No Pickard is a back up, he could be a good back up but hes just a nice to have. Cost controlled young back up goalie who is respectable enough for 20 some starts.
Him starting this year was a tire fire. He is prone to 1-2 soft goals a game. Spencer Martin is their best shot at having a number 1 goalie of the future. Thats why Friemdan mentioned Avs might be looking at goalies in a trade for Duchene as well. I don't think they are very happy with their system depth currently |

I played with Justin Bailey in a charity hockey game at HarborCenter today. Obviously, he is really skilled, but I never realized how big of a guy he really was. - buffalofan19
Also really fast.
If he ever puts it together he's going to be a solid player |

I actually don't think they'll be able to protect Barberio. They have to expose at least one defenseman that's under contract next year. So either Beauchemin waives or they expose Barberio. The 2 forwards are easy Colborne and Comeau. |

I am 51 years old and I have been a Sabres and Bills fan my entire life. How many more years do I have to wait until:
1) either team makes the playoffs?
2) either team wins a playoff game/round?
3) either team wins a championship? - SabreWest
You've seen plenty of the first two in your lifetime...... the third might be in your next lifetime. |

This is why replay is a problem. Too long to slice the details too finely, and still get nothing. |

If they get beauchemin to waive so he isn't bought out, he will count towards the min requirements. If not they buy him out, barb is exposed and go 7 skaters. That's my guess |

If you were just a few years older you would have seen the Bills run roughshod over the AFL. |

I never had a problem with the challenge system. I was always of the opinion that if something was offsides or goaltender interference, it shouldn't count. But if that play doesn't constitute "indisputable evidence" that play was offsides, what's the point of having it? |

They pretty much have to get him to waive. I don't think a buyout has anything to do with it. If they want to protect Barberio they have to get him to waive. |

It was to get the calls where a guy is 2 feet offside. I don't think they realized how many plays are that close as to be almost impossible to tell one way or the other.

That was as pretty close to a sure thing that was offsides as you could get. Two feet or two inches shouldn't matter. If you're going to have an impossible standard of indisputable evidence, then the system needs to go. |

Yeah waiving his the only way they can protect unless they qualify a guy like weircoich.
My teams a mystery, in a 2 week span leading up to the draft, the future direction of the team will all be decided with who is exposed, duchene trade, 4th overall. Exciting but scary as hell if they don't get this right |
