What's the next date? June 1 for the Columbus 2nd announcement? - A_SteamingLombardi
as much as i want an extra pick now, probably be better to have next year. if it is indeed a deeper draft. |
|
|
|
i'd be good with Mittle/Glass/Vilardi.
no rush if someone wants to go to Uni or the minors, i'm happy to let em wait and marinate.
I'm just waiting for permission to put my 2017/18 roster down here. - dbot
I have no problem with a kid going back to school for a year or two, but when they tell you four then that does concern me. They are automatic free agents then and they can decide who they want to join after that.
I take Glass |

yup.
we should be stockpilling 2018 draft picks asap.
it will soften the blow when we don't win the lotto again. |

It would not be a bad thing if we got next years instead. |

i hear ya, i just see Vancouver's history of developing NCAA talent and transitioning them to the pro's as a positive, i don't see a player not wanting to play on an up and coming team that treats their kids right.
but i hear ya.
If the first 4 picks are all C's again this year, i'm still good with taking the 1st D.
i'd love to see us stock up on D similar to Nsh. |

I expect a number 5 pick to be close to NHL ready not a four year development . I think two years would be more to my liking.
Take a top D next year |

Well you'd prefer asap, but i'd take the better player even if he came to our team later...
in other words
i'd rather a player with more upside that takes longer to get to the pro's than a player that is NHL ready, but with a lower ceiling. |

I don't think rebuild teams should be drafting top 5 picks that will be ready in four years. Most young players in the top 10 are ready in 2-3 years |

What's the rush? Adding overachieving prospects to sh!tty teams = cap problems before we're even competitive again... |

No rush at all 2-3 years should be the norm . Not 4 |

Exactly.
No timetable necessary.
You'd hope they would force the hand of mgmt through their play, but no need to rush em. |

glass was the kid whose dad was 6'5 and brother 6'7. His scouting report was quite good.
Never know JB could go Makar as well.
Could we see a trade of picks? |

I don't see Van making a trade of their 1st pick.
Could Philadelphia be interested in moving the 2nd OA ?
Ask Nucker, that's his team.
Dallas? |

I agree, having a stacked D can make your team.
If JB sees better C's in next years draft he could take D this year |

Was just thinking that. Philly has knocked on Edler before and surely if you toss in Tanev?
Those two are dead on D here in Van so why not shop them both? |

Nico/Nolan are literally perfect for Philly. They're loaded with Defensemen in their prospect pool but needed a high end forward. |
