If JB got Demko in 2nd
Tree in 3rd (i know he's gonzo)
BB in mid 20s of 1st
Gaudette in 5th
I have faith in him finding late gems. having extra scratch tix (picks) increases his odds of hitting. load up. can't wait till 2018.
for all the JB bashers, he could end up being a pretty valuable gm to this organization. - storm88
Agree he has found NHL worthy talent. Big difference from MG era. He traded one D prospect away from WD pressure. Same mistake on Vey. But hey that request won't be made anymore.
Looking forward to seeing his blue chippers break in with BB, OJ and Demko. JV well we'll see. Still time. Don't forget there is Lockwood and some of these free agent propects too that might work out. Eyes on MacEwen for example.
Yes sad. But we don't know if KHL contract has NHL out clause. Plus contract salary, not bonus structure, can be bought out. Has happened before with big money contracts from NHL.
So if he doesn't want to come to Nucks again. Nucks can get fair trade value in deal where they allow his agent to get Tree to agree to terms as part of trade.
In that case, I say Russian cultural access NYC opens up Devils, Isles and Rangers. Teams that would like him and could offer big money to lure him back to NHL.
That's bs bud. Pure bs. Boeser, Demko and Juolevi are blue chippers - CanuckDon
I happen to disagree with you, I like their progression but I hardly think it's an absolute certainty they're going to be top-end players. To me a bluechip prospect is a kid who can't miss. Still some question marks with all three of them in my mind but that hardly means I think they're poop.
it sucks they basically changed the rules right when the canucks were hitting the bottom. Even TO last year 20% was really lucky. I think having last place at 25% atleast is a good start. What made it worse (just this year) was Vegas. %s had to be adjusted get them at 10% as well.
But just think of the canucks 3 years from now (hopefully). hopefully pushing for a PO spot, yet still available to get a top 3. we wouldn't complain then.
did i make sense? I'm a little wiped. ready for the wrapper. - storm88
I happen to like the current setup, it forces organizations to employ managers and scouts who can actually build through several different means. Such as being good throughout the entire draft, not just with a high first pick. To win a few trades. To sell veterans for a good youthful return.
Now more than ever you need to have multiple sources to find youth and have a continual push from below, something the Canucks haven't had in many years because of poor management.

The system is weighted against those who need it the most, the way the draft lottery is now, teams that don't need the help are getting stronger and the teams that need it the most are being locked out of the top picks. That isn't the way it should be, have the 1OA be via lottery, but once you win the 1OA pick, you are locked out of it for 10 years (which is roughly the amount of time you would keep a franchise player). That in my mind would be fairer and still force teams to have better management.

Well it looks like we're going to be stocking up on top 5 picks then!

I guess it really depends on your interpretation of what "teams who need it most" is. New Jersey certainly imo needed it most as they're a terrible franchise, they got the first overall pick, how is that not fair in you mind?
Colorado needs it most, because they've mismanaged their franchise, so they got the 4th overall pick, how in your mind are they not getting a benefit from this system? They get to pick before almost every other team.
Vancouver needs it most, again because of mismanagement, and they got the 5th overall pick, so they pick before 26 other teams. How are they not benefiting from the system?
Dallas had four more wins than Vancouver who finished second last, why should they be treated much different? They were in fact treated different because they only had 8% odds of winning a top three position, which they fluked out and did.
Essentially what you're saying is the franchises that've been mismanaged should be given an out card.

They still got a great spot to pick one of the best kids in the world, to me it's seems pretty fair. His suggestion of getting one 1st overall pick and then being shutout for ten years is silly, not every year is blessed with a McDavid, Matthews, Tavares, Stamkos, some are Ryan Nuggent Hopkins, Yakupov, Patrick Stephan, etc. kind of years.

I've got too give it to you. The grammer and spelling above this sentence is now impeccable. Quit testing us and proofread more, please.
Nick Saban's new salary for coaching Alabama, what a crock of poop!! The players can't even accept a free lunch but they can afford to pay the coach an average of 8.7 million dollars a year.
