You still don't get the distinction of the models. Draftist is building through the draft and hanging on to (accumulating) picks not trading them away. Tanking is to plan and make moves to bottom out the season to get the top pick. That is the only rule in tanking. You should rebrand yourself a "Draftist" otherwise it's a misnomer what you are selling. The reality of the lotto draft has proven what is the horsepoop. - Nuck4U
You do realize these are your models? other people have other opinions.

your "distinction" is not accurate in anyone's mind but yours. Accumulating draft picks is what tanking teams do, did the leafs tank or take a "draftist" approach? - neem55
No it's the Draftist approach. Don't take their model and add it to what a tank is all about. Plus hanging onto a stat that 4/5 pick can be better then 6-10 doesn't discount if they are interchangeable. More so, it doesn't make them Franchise distinguishable the reason to plan to retard improvement and bottom out for the top pick. |

My approach to tanking is signing a poopy goalie or use fodder that's in your system. |

Your attempts to sound smart make your arguments incomprehensible. The above comment makes absolutely no sense.
The leafs tanked. They did so by trading away players for picks, accumulating picks and in doing so left a depleted roster on the ice which inevitably led to them finishing at the bottom for a few years and drafting top5. This seems like fairly common knowledge. |

That's fine. I just like to point out the building model of "Draftist" to counter the planning and act of tanking to get the top pick. The essence of the reward. One that the lotto draft has muted.
Why should we combine both as the same?
The lotto draft is proof enough. That it works to develop, plan to improve and build through the draft without having to make moves and "plan" to bottom out. |

It's got me thinking what the (frank) were they fishing for? Look how far the spear went through his cheek! How much pressure is in that rubber band? That would have gone right through a typical reef fish.
It shouldn't be that powerful... |

Acquiring draft picks would be considered to me "rebuilding".
"Tanking" attempting to suck for a purpose.
The two things basically go hand in hand. Still seperate though. |

The Laffs tanked to get the top pick. The odds were against it. But they lucked out and got Mathews. It wasn't a sound plan but a risk they were able to take with their roster at the time. Your tank reward theory is shot if Laffs lost out (odds dictated) and got OJ or PLD. While if Nucks who didn't plan to tank plus bottom out through results with a lotto ticket had won Mathews or Laine.

Losers the NHL lotto 2 years running - Check
Losing a blue chip prospect to KHL - Check
What's the plan going into the summer selling the Canuck's brand? What does the team offer the loyal fan base?
The draft is in two months, two months of nothing to sell except future hope. This team will be battling apathy for the next few years.

But they did lose out, in the McDavid draft. They won Matthews by having the best odds again (how the hell is that lucking out, they had better odds than all the other teams) and insured picking top 5 by trading away aging players, expiring contracts and guys they had signed to PTO's. it's the essence of tanking:accumulate the most picks possible, of the best quality possible. Teams do it in every sport. The lakers are currently on a three year run, the Browns in football and the padres in baseball:sell all major assets for picks, watch your team plummet and pick high. : |

Another reason to not draft Mittelstadt. IF he does stay all 4 years in College, could possibly will the Hobby Baker award.
Rumblings out of Avs land they are trying to sign this years Hobby Baker winner Will Butcher but haven't come to terms yet and strong possibility it isn't going to happen. 2 Hobby Baker winners in a row to screw NHL teams. |

Should make videos of the players in training.
Have already started selling the "rebuild". The word was finally mentioned. Expect nothing but another chance to drop some more spots in 2018 and 2019. |
