Losers the NHL lotto 2 years running - Check
Losing a blue chip prospect to KHL - Check
What's the plan going into the summer selling the Canuck's brand? What does the team offer the loyal fan base?
The draft is in two months, two months of nothing to sell except future hope. This team will be battling apathy for the next few years. - VanHockeyGuy

Acquiring draft picks would be considered to me "rebuilding".
"Tanking" attempting to suck for a purpose.
The two things basically go hand in hand. Still seperate though. - manvanfan
Correct they are separate. Just Consider this on hand in hand for rebuilding.
A Draftist model is to rebuild through the draft. That means you need picks to do that. You don't have to necessarily accumulate extra picks. But don't trade away your own to achieve it.
Tanking as you are correct on is the plan to suck. To bottom out. The purpose to get that top pick.
The lotto really on draft position sours tanking but allows the Draftist approach to still work. As in you can rebuild your team through the draft but not plan to bottom out and let the chips fall where they may. The lotto ticket gives a fair chance to get a top pick.

Should make videos of the players in training.
Have already started selling the "rebuild". The word was finally mentioned. Expect nothing but another chance to drop some more spots in 2018 and 2019. - manvanfan
Essentially the Canuck's will be showing up at camp with a young stars roster and a few player coaches/teachers once the season starts. As long as they work hard I guess that's all we can expect. |

Another reason to not draft Mittelstadt. IF he does stay all 4 years in College, could possibly will the Hobby Baker award.
Rumblings out of Avs land they are trying to sign this years Hobby Baker winner Will Butcher but haven't come to terms yet and strong possibility it isn't going to happen. 2 Hobby Baker winners in a row to screw NHL teams. - manvanfan
Out of all the kids that go the college route that are drafted, how many stay a full 4 yrs and become free agents? I'm probably wrong but the only 2 I can remember are Justin Schultz and Vessey. Odds are still better that they sign with the team that drafted them.

Yup. Rebuilds are hard. But you don't know how the development fairs. Surprises like Granlund come about. Same with other prospects. That's the stimulus. |

You must have missed the rumour the other day that Mittelstadt or someone who knows him, that he plans on staying 4 years in college. |

I didn't think that was a goal either. Embarrassing that the refs had to say it was a good goal before the coaches challenge. Should have went to Trotz and said we have a good goal do you want to challenge. |

I don't know the whole rumour or who said it or if it's true or anything. Something JB and TL will find out when they interview him.
He may be a goofy moron who knows. |

Because if he drops in the draft he plays for a better team? A team that doesn't need his services right away. |

Ya that was pretty bad having to come back out and reverse the call, but I think they've done a good job tonight. It's funny reading through and seeing how much they think they're getting screwed with calls/noncalls. Super whiney, it's weird.
I went in just to talk about the call, and they turned on me. This was my fave:
Go Away! Out best player and captain is knocked out and you keep arguing on some damn technicality. GO AWAY!!! - powerhouse[/img] You are not welcome here, ever!

Or he can just wait 4 years and choose whatever team he wants.
Then JV has matured and welcomes him to the league with a thunderous open ice hit that knocks him out cold. |

That's a good question. What teams that are good now will be poop in 3 to 4 seasons?
I don't buy that Chi will be that bad in three seasons but I could see Montreal, NY Rangers, and maybe Anaheim. |

Rest of my teams kind of middle of the pack right now. I'm due to have another championship soon though. Or come close to one. |

Not really. But has there been any movement by JB and gang that can get you excited about this rebuild? Brock Boeser? There's only so much circle jerking you can do over Brock. We need more. |

Yes, but not many have pulled that stunt. That rep sticks to you through your career. Not a good way to start it by shafting the team that drafts you. |
