We need both size and Speed. But we also b[need some dynamic players.

Palmieri -is a bull of a worker.
Zacha Also
Zajac is good defensively
Wood is the tasmanian Devil.
DO we go with Kirk MUller or Johnie Goudeau ???
Today my pick is NICO.

It's actually not a terrible offer. I mean, it's not enough obviously. But it's not the worst offer in exchange for a #1 overall pick I've seen. - tomburton99
The franchise's has had exactly one first overall pick in it's history going back to Kansas City. In 1979 the Colorado Rockies took Rob Ramage first overall. Regardless of getting fair value I don't want to see this pick traded.
In 1977 we took Barry Beck 2nd overall and I think that's the last guy we traded to the Rangers.... SHOOT THE PUCK BARRY! |

I never said or thought the Devils should trade it. But in terms of hypothetical internet forum trades offer for as first overall, that was far from the worst. I knew about the 1979 tidbit, mentioned on Todd's previous blog. |

I'd be curious about the comparison of tapes from last year and not this one. I'm a little worried about him having a year.
I still want Patrick. - willschulme

Any ideas who could be a good pick up in the 2nd round? Defense or forward? |

It's not fair value. The first overall pick has roughly a 55-60% chance of turning into a first liner, and though we know who Patrick and Hischier are, they very well have first line ceiling. Fowler is slotted at first pairing but doesn't really belong there, so you're getting 2 roster players and a 10% chance of landing a first liner.
To make the value fair, if Anaheim got a hold of a top ten pick (around 7) and then traded just Fowler and that pick for the first overall... that's a fair starting point.
That top ten pick, especially this year, has a reasonable chance of being a high ceiling player but later rather than sooner, and that's what you give the 3-4 d-man for. |

I wanted the Rangers to get him, but yet again they will have reach or miss cause they have like 2 picks this year...yet again. |

Look around the internet, hell even on past blog on this site and see some hypothetical offers for 1st overall picks. The post in question isn't terrible. The Devils can't afford to pass on Patrick or Hishcier unless they get a haul back. Silvferberg and Fowler are still young enough to be build blocks for a team. The swapping of first rounders is where the deal would die on the floor |

He lead the Ducks in minutes and the team finished at the top of their div. |

Yeah but that a little misleading. Ducks blue line is very good with Manson, Theodore, Folwer, Lindholm and Vatanen. Bieksa and Holzer are meh. |
