I like Tanev but Jets need a LHD, how about Petan (local kid for you guys) for Hutton?

Definitely been on the trade Tanev side for a while, hes a good defenseman but his impact on Vancouver can be done through replacement players. His value probably isnt as high as it was last offseason, but it will only go down from here

Only been to Paris twice and thought the usual/popular activities and sights were solid choices. Memories I have logged as highlights was the tour of Roland Garros and getting to the top of the Eiffel tower was worth waiting around for (only went halfway the first time I was there)

I know people will be upset IF Tanev gets traded, but he is honestly our biggest bargaining piece right now. Established D-man on a super CAP friendly contract. I don't think Tanev (and his contract) get you Drouin + Callahan but I would do that trade in a heartbeat. I think Callahan brings something to this team that we don't have anyway.

its quite sad actually. I know it doesn't go hand in hand with Lack or Bieksa where people truly cried because of missing their personalities. Tanev is serviceable, there is no doubt, but that is why we need to trade him. Take advantage of when his contract kicks in and rebuild this poop properly.

who would want him at 4.5? I don't think he gets picked by LV even if we expose him TBH

He is the best bargain, and the only real benefit of having a bargain guy is if youre tight to the cap while being competitive.

Extremely optimistic to think the team will be competitive in 3 years, but lets say the miracle happens. Tanev would be 30 with 1 year left on his deal and spent the last 3 years taking a beating (as he does every year). He will not be the same player by that time and considered replaceable performance-wise.

Now, if we are more like 5 years away, Tanev is already a UFA by then having toiled away on a bottom feeder

Tyler Wotherspoon is next in line for players from the 2011 Flames draft class. He may as well join Baert and Granlund. Or, if Weisbrod is ready to move on to the 2012 & 2013 drafts, we could probably part with Poirier, Klimchuk or Kulak

Can we go back to the 2014 argument of re-tool vs re-build?
