86% of people on the poll question in the blog disagree with that statement.

which is quite surprising. I know quite a few posters in here have been stressing that we keep Tanev.

The priority should be to trade Edler....if he still refused to waive, sure, trade Tanev. But do NOT trade him for anymore midgets

Edler should go via the trade route but that whiny female dog won't waive his NTC

What about super talented, goal scoring midgets?

I think you trade both, but not in the same season. I prefer to sell high on Tanev seeing as he will be 28 in November. Edler is already on the wrong side of 30 so I doubt his value will fluctuate dramatically over the next season or two

I agree, we should keep one of them for next season. Trade one this summer and one next summer? or at the following deadline. Can we really have Stecher as our 1D?

Drouin/Callahan in a Tavev trade would work. Callahan could help teach our young players to become pro's. since the Sedin's are at the end of their deals.

I see upsides and downsides to the deal. If we're honest, trading Tanev means we probably need to draft a Dman with the 5OA, unless we stick to plan and draft a C in which case, having Drouin would go a long way towards creating our future top 6 with Drouin Horvat Boeser Baertschi(maybe) and 5OA

Also not sure if it was mentioned but the NHL released its list of Injured Players that are not eligible for the expansion draft. Dorsett is not on it, as expected:

The players include forwards David Bolland and Craig Cunningham and defenceman Chris Pronger of the Arizona Coyotes, Buffalo Sabres forward Cody McCormick, winger David Clarkson of the Columbus Blue Jackets, winger Johan Franzen and centre Joe Vitale of the Detroit Red Wings, New Jersey Devils winger Ryane Clowe, New York Islanders centre Mikhail Grabovski, Pascal Dupuis of the Pittsburgh Penguins, and winger Nathan Horton and blueliner Stephane Robidas of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

How about Jankowski?

I've been defending that kid for the last 5 years, I really want to see him in a Flames uniform!

Seriously though, a deal between the Flames an Canucks could make sense. Tanev could be a good partner for Brodie and his age fits well with where our team is.

I don't think Vancouver has the assets to go after a guy like Drouin. We have a few guys in our system that could probably step in and play meaningful minutes. If we toss in a pick or two then it could be a pretty decent package to help move along the rebuild.

Edler's clause, age, and playing style is not appealing to teams.
Tanev's lack of clause until July 1st, age, and playing style is appealing to teams.

You guys don't have the assets to acquire Tanev. I think you have it backwards. Flames and Canucks probably don't make a good trading partner anymore. We should send Tanev out east

Sorry, that's what I meant. Acquiring Drouin would most likely set the rebuild back, not help it move forward.

I won't be upset if we trade Tanev and actually get a great return. But I will be upset if we off-load for lower picks or unproven prospects. Botchford's article says that we should trade him to get a future star. If we can pull off a Larsson style trade, I say go for it but otherwise, he is a great person to help mentor any of our young D.

I think he has value, just nothing in comparison to Tanev as of today (prior to Tanev's contract kicking in).
