It's an accumulation of unsightly posts....SRAM suggested trading our 5th for Drouin. Mitllestad, Heiskanen, Vilardi, Glass, Makar...all of these players could be better than Drouin and are 4 years younger. We aren't going to be competitive for awhile. |

A Drouin deal should never involve any picks/prospects (unless they include Subban). I would only trade for Drouin if it included Tanev but everyone knows it would have to include Callahan. |

I don't think the rights to Tree have much value right now ...Tampa isn't giving up that much in one trade for Tanev ... - Redmile247
It is only a base for a trade, it could be we add a Baertschi or a Granlund or TB makes it a 2nd. Getting creative appears to be the new ways of making a transaction work for a rebuilding team.
Personally, I don't see Tanev being moved this off-season. |

Trading our 1st rounder for Drouin is asinine. |

Right now it could appear so ...but if I had to put money on who has the better career out of drouin or anyone available at 5 ...probably say drouin |

I am fine with later round picks or mediocre prospects. Sometimes you need to move contracts to make things fit, that works for me. But Tanev is the movable piece of value, just go out and get what he's worth |

If the best defence man in the draft is still available at 5 I take the defence man. I know what we need but I still take the best player available. Defence is a hot commodity. I personally would take my chances at the draft over Drouin.

I agree. If we can avoid picks, than I would prefer it. |

I think with Tanev you could get a good old fashioned hockey trade. Player for player.

I'm not saying the Canucks should do it ...but it's a weak draft and drouin looks good |

Leafs and nucks actually make pretty good trade partners for Tanev. much better than TB. |

Cody Glass or Vilardi will improve the team immensely, Drouin may score more points throughout his career, but so far that hasn't worked to we'll for guys like Ovechkin.
I take a valued centre at 5thOA, all day everyday over trading it for Drouin. |

Makar + Vilardi + 2nd round pick ( lost in Drouin trade) > Drouin + Vilardi
In my opinion. address center and D and get younger. |

I agree with this. The right side of your equation also likely doesnt let the team draft top 5 after the lottery either, whereas Makar+Vilardi will not improve the team next season in the slightlest |

I think at 5th overall out we potentially have a D or a centre that could fit in the line up. |

I think they could, but they will probably be very cautious of them if they made the team. Sheltered minutes from a top rookie wont sway the team's goal differential very much, particularly when at C you have Sedin, Horvat and Sutter with Edler/Tanev/Stecher/Hutton/Gudbranson on D. Would be tough for a rookie to overtake their icetime and impact the overall season results |

If Liljigren is somehow not taken by Dallas or Colorado I take him at 5. |
