What are you talking about? Wings? Back then? Stay focused prock. It's 2017. Babacock, bench boss of the leafs...

Why do you have to do that? Distract when the conversation doesn't go your way?

Did Babcock actually do something wrong? Or do you just not like him as a coach?

I'm as confused as Prock

And take their third or 4th best guys?

All the power to you.

Most teams flush with prospects are rebuilding, like you guys though.

Sorry man, not sure what you want me to say, I'm not working the phones. Kapanen is reasonable, but I am sure there are other prospects available that may be a different position or skillset that is more desirable to the Canucks

Picks maybe, but good teams have good prospects... that's how they stay good. Minnesota for example has three of the best players not in NHL right now. These teams are deep, and so they have great young guys developing (as they should) in the AHL and Europe. Smart teams don't rush players. Leaves have started to recognize this and it is paying off big.

Top teams rarely have a lot of top prospects, unless they're just getting to the top.

And I'm curious who you refer to from the Wild that are 3 of the top players outside the NHL. Other than Erikson Ek, I dont' know of any A list guys. Unless your list is like "of the top 100 players outside the NHL".

If you can get better, go for it. Maybe there are, I'm not working the phones either.

I'd say Kapanen and a mid/late first is about the value you can expect though.

I think most will cite Larsson-Hall as a reason Kapanen isnt very exciting (crazy deal, but thats where expectations are these days). Also Utica was just a wreck from the injury call ups this year. Just because Vancouver lacks depth, doesnt mean they should be content with acquiring a B+ prospect and a middle 1st/2nd pick for their best D asset. I would rather just get a single A prospect or a higher pick

We have enough undersized B prospects for Ducksakes.

Re: Tanev.
Top 4, RHD are the hottest commodity on the trade market right now.
A rebuilding team must explore their options when they have a guy of Tanev's pedigree.

Yzerman has already leaked the fact that Drouin is on the market.
Benning needs to do the same with Tanev, if that deal is ever going to happen.
Teams are lining up offers for Drouin. We need to get teams making bids for Tanev ASAP, so both TB and Van are at the top of the heap for trade targets.

If the Drouin bidding war gathers more steam than the Tanev bidding war, then we'll get left in the dust.

Drouin for Tanev seems like too good of a match, so it probably won't happen. But, after Shattenkirk signs somewhere and Anaheim trades one of their big 3 D, Tanev will be the best defenseman available and should score a nice return. I love Tanev, but his trade value will never be higher. There will be ~12 teams looking for a top 4 guy on a reasonable deal.

If Benning doesn't take advantage of the Tanev situation, he will undo all the good will he earned with the solid returns for Burrows and Hansen.

Why leak anything... it's not an election.... they can just call each other and talk business

Greenway and Tuch. That is the kind of list I am referring to, but I think those three are all NHL players right now. Nashville has a similar thing going, as do San Jose, Pittsburgh, Chicago and the Rangers. That's why you see young guys inserted into their lineups every year and producing immediately, because they are actually NHL ready and developed. Granted, you need to balance the young guys with Elite leadership that is also productive.

For me, I want to get some youth for Tanev, but ultimately it wont make or break the franchise. Kapanen or whomever and a mid first is fine value. The prospect talent we are truly missing are the ones that come from the top of the draft, which wont come via trade anyways

Leafs assessing young talent.... wow, did they ever do their homework when they pulled off the steal of the draft and stole a hidden gem like Matthews before anyone else could accidentally take him.

That's almost as savvy as the hard work they put into winning the lottery.... all the other idiots must of prayed and prayed they wouldn't win the 1st OA....
