its sounds steep but really which of these d-men outside of heiskanen projects to be better than him and what are the odds they actually reach that ceiling? - Sabresfan-365
That may be true...
but why pay the 8th overall if we can get him cheaper?
Obviously I don't know what it would cost,
But my guess is that it wouldn't be that much |

We have 2 2nd ricks (37, 53) so we could offer one of those but I doubt Benning goes for it. - mhp
I think Fasching + a 2 could do it |

The image that I remember most is May going around Bourque like he was a pylon. I enjoyed that series a lot. Was hoping you guys beat Montreal that year. - Matthews_Auston
Ppl were waiving brooms around the whole game
It was nuts
I think it was something like 10years since we had won a playoff series
To break that streak by beating the Bruins (our most hated rival at the time) was pretty epic
Was pretty awesome that May undressed the great ray borque like that |

well yea if we can get him cheaper id rather we didnt pay with our first lol. Ask for Fowler last year was 8th and i believe tanev is better but maybe im way off value wise. |

I honestly couldn't care less what they do with the pick as far as trading up, trading down, or staying put is concerned. Just hit a home run and get me the right guy. |

Only if we think that Foote is the best defenseman left available
This pick either needs to be traded for a defenseman,
Or we need to choose one |

That's fair, but it's tough to tell
"Value" changes year to year too
Leddy & Boychuck for 2nds
Larson went for Hall
That's such a drastic margin right there
Also...
Bc of the expansion draft, I believe there will be more sellers than buyers
In theory, that should push down prices |

I've been at a lot of the great Buffalo sports games
Had Bills seasons tix as a kid during the Super Bowl runs
Went with my mom & grandma,
sat in row3 of the end zone right next to the tunnel
NEVER left a game early
Went to almost every Sabres playoff game when Hasek was in net (Incl stupid No Goal game), and the Drury/Briere teams playoff games as well
Was not at the Pominville, scary good game...
but I do remember crowd surfing in Coles on Elmwood when that happened
It was amazing |

I was at last game at the Aud. It was pretty cool being there even though not a Sabres fan.
So who is the Sabres most hated rival today if it isn't Boston? |

I say get the best guy available at 8 or trade down to get more picks and then fill in organizational depth (defense) with the rest of the picks |

Missed that one... I was out of town
Probably the Leafs
But I'd say Boston is #2
Montreal & Ottawa close behind |

Gee Kane again............... before Pegula started this S##T Storm by firing everyone, there was a 75% chance they were not keeping the pick unless they made it the top 3. |

For me its:
Montreal

All I read about is how bare the cupboards are, yet you keep wanting to trade Fasching. How about we let him develop his game. His strengths are Strong along the wall, drives to the net with and without the puck, solid 200 foot player, skating needs to improve, but not slow of foot. I can see why our team doesn't need a player like that.
IMHO, I don't think Tanev is a better hockey player than Fowler.
The only defensemen I am trading pick #8 for are Mattias Elkholm or Marc Edourd Vlasic.
Everybody needs to stop wanting a puck moving defenseman, we need a defensive specialist to team with Risto and unleash Risto's offensive capabilities. Antipin, if he signs is a puck moving defenseman as is Guhle and McCabe can be one too if they could let him |

I think it's VERY important to get the best defenseman we can with that pick
If it's a trade for one, cool
If it's not, and Makar & Heiskanen & Liljegren are all gone...
I'm ok with trading down
But I still want us to get the defenseman we feel is next best
We can probably trade down to 15ish & still get our choice between Valimaki and Foote
If that gets us an extra 2nd that we also use on a defenseman, great
We need to build in that area for sure
