U wouldn't have said that last year though
Brodin had a really rough year

Regardless...
all I'm saying is, don't trade McCabe or Guhle unless it's for a top pair guy

- jdfitz77

I'm not even arguing your point, I've just never been high on Dumba

Too bad Murray "ignored defencemen" in the draft.....even though approximately 40% of his draft picks are defencemen.

- seedy

He did in the first 2 rounds
1 out of 14 possible picks

How many 3rd rounders on make the NHL?
Not many
And those who do are usually depth players at best

Nope... giving up too much imo
If I knew for sure that Juolevi was gonna be better than McCabe, and was ready for top4 duty next year...
then I'd consider it

I'd at least call to see what they wanted for Tanev though

- jdfitz77

Juolevi is going to be 19 on Friday, 6'3" 190lbs and has been playing some very good hockey. He is a LHD from Finland. Could end up just like Risto. Is Tanev a top 4 for next year? If so, then I say you make the trade.

McCabe is Jay McKee 2.0

long term stay at home guy once he's rounded you wont have to worry about.
and he's going to put up more points than McKee.

- Sabre_Tooth

Yeah, I like McCabe too
Had a rough season though
Need him to get back on track

Yeah. The letter at the end was interesting too.

I will admit I blew threw them online just to find out what the story was, and how it differed from the show. It will be interesting to see where it goes, and when the Whisperers will actually show up.

Yeah, Tanev is definitely a top4 guy next year
He'd be on our top pair w Risto if acquired

The issue would be how young our defensive would be adding in Antipin, Guhle & Juolevi

It's not a bad trade,
But we probably miss the playoffs next year if we do it
Very young defense & the offense would take a hit

I do like Juolevi quite a bit though
But I dk if Vancouver would move him?
Pretty sure I remember him partnering w Risto on their Nat'l team
I'd definitely like to have him if possible

I'd say today was a biggest issue since issue 100.

I think I know what it at least suggests will happen in the show, but we'll see. This might not happen until season 10/11 if it makes it there.

In an unrelated note, I think the show really blew it with her character

I've been at a lot of the great Buffalo sports games
Had Bills seasons tix as a kid during the Super Bowl runs
Went with my mom & grandma,
sat in row3 of the end zone right next to the tunnel
NEVER left a game early

Went to almost every Sabres playoff game when Hasek was in net (Incl stupid No Goal game), and the Drury/Briere teams playoff games as well

Was not at the Pominville, scary good game...
but I do remember crowd surfing in Coles on Elmwood when that happened
It was amazing

- jdfitz77

I've been at some memorable Buffalo games. When I was little and Al Smith skated off the ice before the game because he was told he wasn't going to start and Don Edwards was.

Gil Perreault's 500th goal

Clint Malarchuk's terrible injury

The Bills beating the Dolphins for the first time in a decade in 1980 and people jumped the field and tore down the goal posts

The greatest comeback of all time against the Houston Oilers and never left

When I was little I saw OJ play a lot and used to just stare at him when he would sit on the bench like it was amazing I was that close to him, he was that big nationally when I was a tyke.

I read the first couple volumes of the comic. I feel like I should get back to them. The pace of the show bores the sh!t out of me and I think they fill up so much space with nothing. im actually considering not watching it next season and just buying it and binge watching it once the season is over if I hear good things about it.
At this point, I feel like it's just a soap opera with some zombies thrown in.

Jake Guentzel 3rd round pick .. and people are fine with us giving them away
- GERBE!!!75PTS

Zetterberg was a 7th round pick. What's your point? Oh I forget, you don't really have one. You're just trying to stir the pot.

You should definitely read the comic. It's worth it

About the show, I like the drama. It's more about the people than the zombies and that's what I like

*Sorry everyone who's seen me post this multiple times*

Well, for example...
Murray's first draft, 2014
Of course we pick Reinhart #2
Totally ok with that
Then Lemieux at 31, ok fine
(should've taken Barbashev, but he's also a forward so it's moot in terms of this discussion)

After the Lemieux choice, we had 2 more 2nd round picks
Murray REACHED for 2 more forwards... Cornel & Karabacek...
passing on 2 defensemen that had 1st round grades (Dougherty & McKeown), and Montour (who many on here would like us to trade for)

He then chose Martin in the 3rd round...
he's so bad he was like -13 this year, in the ECHL!
Yeah, thats right. He was so bad he couldn't even help out in Rochester with their depleted/poor defense

At the time, our defense of the future looked like this...
Zadorov-Ristolainen
McCabe-Myers
????? - Pysyk

With NO OTHER defensemen in our system looking like NHLers

Forwards we had up & coming...
Reinhart, Lemieux, Compher, Hurley, Bailey, Baptiste (a 3rd rounder, but coming off a great year so I included him), Grigorenko, Girgensons, Armia

That's NINE forwards that graded out with top6 potential
Plus, we were still gonna tank for McEichel the next season
And I'm pretty sure he had just pulled off the McNabb for Fasching deal

So don't tell me we "needed" forwards
We had a ton in the pipeline

And most teams that have good defenses draft defensemen in the first 2 rounds
Check out Nashville, or Anaheim's draft history
I specifically bring them up bc they're the teams we discuss trading with the most on here
Carolina & Minny as well
Seriously... check them out

GMTM has 14 picks in rounds 1 & 2
1 defenseman taken
7 forwards taken
6 picks traded

Not saying we shouldn't have taken Reinhart, or Eichel
But 1 out of 14 is unacceptable

And I like Nylander too...
but he passed on a few really good defensemen there as well

I'll say again...
1 out of 14 is unacceptable
