That's why I'm proposing Reinhart and the 8th overall for Ovechkin. It sounds nuts on paper for both teams but THIS is the type of trade that both teams need. High risk/high reward. We get our "Hossa" type, a guy who's over 30 but shows no signs of slowing down physically/scoring, who is currently a star player on a team that constantly underachieves and would be a bonafide scoring winger for Eichel for the next 4 years.
Our big contracts would be Eichel/ROR/Ovechkin/Okposo/Ristolainen and we'd have McCabe, Guhle, Antipin? rounding out the top-4. Keep Lehner, his sv% shows he can be a solid starter.
Reinhart is constantly floated around as trade-bait for a D but I think we have to give up too much for one in addition to him and can plug a guy in through FA. I don't see us landing a big name D this summer in a trade, honestly.
With Baptise/Bailey/Nylander coming up, we have to place faith in them to be our Saad/Panarin/Teravainen types. Rodriguez is a great 3C/4C, and it's easy to find bottom 6 guys in FA.
I also want to keep Girgensons and drop Foligno. - BeadyEyedDouche
No way Washington does that trade.

@sbroads - isn't Trevor Daley like one of the worst possession guys in the league? I'm surprised you'd put him in your 'yes' list.... - Phatjohnsn
His underlying numbers usually suck, but he can fly and has offensive ability.
I would inly want him for a 3rd pairing role |

I wouldn't be so sure. Management there has to make a decision this summer if Washington goes down in the next game. It clearly isn't working and he's their most valuable asset. It's the perfect time for them to consider trading him while he still has value to bring them something in return.
You don't build your team around a winger and this is a perfect example. We have a franchise center, the fanbase needs a big splash to get excited for next season and a Fowler type of player would be just as expensive with half the impact. A lot of those West coast guys don't transition to the Eastern conference very well unless they're Pronger and he was a fukkin giant.
Washington, regardless of who the trade partner is, needs to strongly consider moving on from Ovechkin as the face of their franchise and el capitan. They can get value but no one will overpay for him with his age and contract.
I'm fully aware it sounds nuts but that team cannot keep having 2nd round exits after President trophy seasons and they will have to deal with Pittsburgh next year and the year after and the year after... The supposed Crosby/Ovechkin rivalry is going to remain one-sided for the foreseeable future.
Backstrom won't get them enough in return, Holtby isn't going anywhere and they don't have much else of value that would plug a few spots on their team.
What does the fanbase want? Ovechkin for the next 4 years but early exits from the playoffs or a team that can compete without the distraction and get over the hump to win a championship? Their window is closing but a surprise trade like this can extend that window. |

I'd be good with cutting some of the dead weight this off season and picking up 1 or 2 D-men.
I really don't need the new GM coming in and start giving away assets like the other guy.

I'd wait to meet the new GM personally. I had heard that he would sign after Worlds from the get go, but not sure as to all the rationale. |

Blackhawks fan coming in peace, Buffalo is probably my favorite team besides the Hawks.
Would you guys be willing to take Seabrook for something?
I don't want to piss anyone off, but what about Seabrook for the 8th Overall pick and Zemgus? Or what about Seabrook for Reinhart and Falk?
We need to dump salary, and unfortunately Crawford and Seabrook are the most expendable right now. Seabrook isn't as fast as he once was (which was never blindlng), but he is a good PP guy and would become the best #2 you've ever had behind Risto.
Hawks desperately need depth scoring, defense, and prospects to refill the cupboard. |

Thrashers get rookie forward Niclas Bergfors, defenseman Johnny Oduya, prospect Patrice Cormier and a first-round pick in this year's draft [for Iilya].

Sorry, Seabrook is falling too fast at his age for his contract size and term, no way I give up the #8 or Reinhart for him. A few seasons ago, sure, but not anymore, he's becoming an albatross. |

He's 32. I want absolutely nothing to do with him if a 1st or Reinhart are involved. Sorry, maybe you can have Evander Kane for him but we do not want or need a 32 year old defenseman right now. Isn't he signed for like 8 years too?
