not for 4.5 mill per year tho - Codes1087
If he can put up 50 points on expansion Vegas, I dont think $4.5 would be an astronomical price. Especially in the 2nd year at the TDL...
So you're thinking this is more of them trying to build a competitor now, or just hitting the cap floor? |

I doubt TBY is including a 1st in any deal for Drouin. Callahan has a NMC.
Canucks can't afford to give up multiple assets. Thus can't contend in a deal for Drouin. TBY is going to have half the league after Drouin. (bidding war) Can we please just stop with the unrealistic offers. Giving too much ammunition to the leaf thread.
Will be interesting if JB does move Tanev and what we might get in return. If its TBY, perhaps the return is
1st'17
1 of Stephens/Cirelli/Raddysh/Koekkoek
don't believe they'd move Point. He's on the cheap and thats what TBY needs right now.
Canucks have to be careful here. Tree bolted. Sbisa could go to LV, now Tanev maybe traded? yikes. Nobody left. The 1 guy everyone wants gone stays (Edler). - storm88
So you're saying callaghan for one of the twins?
If we trade tanev we will suck for years... if we don't... we'll suck for years.
On the bright side, if we trade tanev we can protect sbisa |

Probably hitting the cap floor more so than trying to be competitive. I think they know they are going to be poopy for the next couple years anyway, so why not spend to the floor and give the fans something to cheer about if the Russian can pot a few goals. |

Only thing we will miss is Tramkin's size.
Sbizza and Tanev are of no consequence. Need to get a 1st for Tanev while we can and before he only plays 20 games for us next year. - LordHumungous
we can sign another sbisa and for less. Tanev has to return more than a 1st or we keep him. i'm ok with keeping him another year. its just his NTC kicking in july 1st which might trigger something. Perhaps if JB doesn't get the C he wants in the draft, he moves Tanev for a C and drafts a D.
who knows, cause u r waiting for that drafted player to mature anyway.
so it was what 23-24 degrees yesterday, now its rain heading down to our trailer in the states. perfect weather..... |

Vegas signs 30 year old Shipachyov from KHL to 2 year, $9m deal.
Anyone taking this as Vegas trying to be competitive quick or just acquiring an asset they can flip at the 2018 or 2019 TDL? - WhiteLie
I am thinking they are signing him at that price to get closer to cap floor and not have to take a bunch of cap dumps. If I am Vegas I am looking at teams like Canucks, who have little to offer, quality wise & selecting McEneny, Pedan or Gaunce. They will need some young players on their roster and lots of Sbisa types will be available. |

back up plan in case Demko's development sputters. - LordHumungous
Why would you start a rebuild by trading your best asset for a 31 year old goalie when you already have a guy very highly touted ? |

I see it as just doing business ...they are in a position to take a chance on a guy who more than a few teams were after |

I'm not a proponent of keeping injury prone 'assets' around. Ultimately Tanev needs to go for a first in the 10-20 range but really we should get what we can for him. If that means something other than a pick so be it. |

7 or of ten players picked between 10 and 20 this year won't play 100 games in the NHL
Worst draft in a year.... dont get pumped up. |

Alex Edler, where the F was this the past few seasons???

it actually pisses me off to see stuff like this. He has that in him every night, and he chooses to play like he did all year. He is such a frustrating player. |

Agreed, it seems like once a year now we see Edler play the way he is capable of. He used to hit everyone and be engaged in every play, now seems complacent |

cause tanev doesn't get u drouin. - storm88
Says you. This is not in fact true, Tanev for Drouin is actually very close. If we took back a contract they don't want, this could be a deal. Doesn't have to be Callahan they have a few other bad ones. I would think they would want to get rid of Coburn, for example, as he gets paid quite well for a bottom pair guy. |

If Tanev is traded, Sbisa is no longer exposed in the draft.
