Agreed, it seems like once a year now we see Edler play the way he is capable of. He used to hit everyone and be engaged in every play, now seems complacent - WhiteLie
I suspect it might have been something to do with willie's system. Edler stops hitting and only uses body positioning, Gudbranson same thing. Also, Jake seemed to get in his doghouse when he would hit players especially after the Polak hit.
I am probably wrong but for 3 years under Wussie Desjardins that appeared to be part of his style, take outs over hits. |

Could be, but he was also a wreck under Torts' system too. He would've loved wrecking ball Edler |

Just appeared too me that everyone backed off on hitting under WD. Even Dorsett appeared to do takeout rather than hit people.
We shall see under Green if that may be the case.
Not in anyway am I trying to defend Edler. |

I am hoping Green rebuilds Edler's confidence*, would be nice to see him enforce the play rather than be a mitigating impact on the ice

Yeah I thought that was the deal? Vegas gets the Swedes and Sutter, then Van gets to participate in the expansion draft |

Says you. This is not in fact true, Tanev for Drouin is actually very close. If we took back a contract they don't want, this could be a deal. Doesn't have to be Callahan they have a few other bad ones. I would think they would want to get rid of Coburn, for example, as he gets paid quite well for a bottom pair guy. - neem55
I agree. Tanev is precisely the kind of guy T.B is pursuing.
So, if rumor has it, Yzerman is looking for a top 4 D plus prospect. T.B will be facing cap hell this summer on top of the upsurd salaries even the most basic of top 4 Dman make in any Drouin return...
With Tanev's skill, age and salary I view it as quite the fit. Add the fact that we have a plethora of young wingers ( Granlund, Sven, Goldobin, Virtanen, Dahlen) that we could part with while adding Drouin in their place, and we do have the assets.
Drouin + cap dump.
Tanev + one of the above wingers.
Ideally, we give them one of our better more established wingers (Sven/Granlund) plus perhaps a pick, while taking on a heavier cap dump, and ask for one of their better D-prospects ( Kokeeke or whatever the (frank) his name is).

7 or of ten players picked between 10 and 20 this year won't play 100 games in the NHL
Worst draft in a year.... dont get pumped up. - Pres.cup
I hear you it's not great...but we need a pick like Foote that's where he might be. |

I can already see Tampa sending Drouin to Anaheim for one of their young D |

That's the thing though, I think T.B would be more inclined to add a defensive specialist to complement Hedman's jump up style.
Anaheim has great D assets, but their all relatively offensive minded and not the greatest in their own end. Moreover, I think any potential Drouin move would basically have to take place after expansion, at which point, Anaheim would have already moved a D or exposed one. |

On a side note, Carolina could offer up someone like Faulk or Hanifin and run the table. |

Because the assets returned to T.B would likely have to be protected. |

Ah yes I totally blanked on that. I suppose that does give us an advantage on Anaheim, but I suspect if Drouin is up for grabs there will be teams willing to outbid us |
