I'm really curious, as a Canadian wouldn't you root for a Canadian team? I mean last year there were no Canadian teams in the playoffs and everyone north of the border had to be griping about it, so I ask why not root for another Canadian team?

You'll find that most Leaf fans will not EVER cheer for Ottawa and vice versa. Its' all about proximity. And neither one will cheer for the Habs!! And no western team fan will cheer for an Ontario team.

Gudas is probably one of a tiny handful of guys in the NHL that I actually hope gets injured.

I get cheering for the hometown team (even though I don't do it personally), but as far as nationality goes... Canadians can cheer for just about any team and be cheering on fellow countrymen!!!
