Dahlen will likely be in Utica. He should provide a legit first line option - CanuckDon
He has a clause that lets him go to Sweden if he doesn't make the roster. |

Rick Dhaliwal @DhaliwalSports
Dahlen has the option or going back to Sweden next year or go to Utica if he doesn't make the #Canucks, the European clause.
I'm sure they'll try to convince him to stay in Utica, but a lot of European guys prefer to stay at home instead of riding the buses down in the AHL. |

Dahlen is NHL or back to Sweden, that's how they got him to sign. He originally didn't even want to sign this year, wanted to play another year in Sweden. That's what he told the Sens before the trade.
Rest aren't really exciting to me. Subban can be fun to watch in the AHL, but it's not that exciting because you know his NHL upside is limited.
@ including Raddysh and Heiskanen - Nucker101
The way the Canucks have been the last few years I think Dahlen will spend some time with the Canucks after some time with the Comets . That can't happen if he is in Sweden |

I agree, he'd likely get some NHL games but I think there's a reason why he negotiated for that clause. |

The only thing I hate about the whole situation is that that Benning will feel pressure to promise him NHL games, and likely not just the cup of tea that a guy like Molino got during garbage time. If Dahlen has a so-so camp and isn't assured of decent NHL time, he might go back to Sweden. Personally, I'm fine with him going back in that scenario.
The goal should be to build a competitive environment of youth where every call-up or roster spot should have to be earned and contractual/waiver/draft status should have zero influence. That's how you avoid becoming the Oilers of the past or current Avs. |

Do you think it is hard to beat out Megna or Chaput as a Sedin line mate. The talent on Canucks is paper thin. Look at Stecher last year. Comes out of college and voted as Canucks best Dman .
Bad teams do desperate things |

That's the point, if he can't clearly look better than those guys, then he's probably not NHL ready and shouldn't be promised any NHL games. |

Yup. That's the slippery slope. You have to resist the urge to play the shiny new toys no matter what, even if that's what the fanbase and media is screaming for.
Bad teams can't afford to mess up the development of their prospects. |

I think a more likely and ideal scenario is that he says in Utica until after the TDL and then he gets some games w the Canucks |

Hopefully he is willing to stick around in Utica. The Canucks need to develop a culture where their prospects understand they need to pay their dues in the AHL prior to playing in the NHL.
I think Green will be a big help in this and I won't be surprised to see Boeser, Virtanen, Dahlen all start in Utica. Arguably Stecher should be there as well but I doubt the PR Dept. Would allow it.
Goldobin has payed his dues and proved he is an excellent scorer in the AHL, I think he will be given some rope in the NHL but sent back at times when he falters. |

Do you think Goldobin would flourish with the Twins on the second line?

Demko, Goldobin(if sent down) and maybe JV/MacEwen if one of them surprise. Zzzzz - Nucker101
He did not say it was a guarantee of Sweden or NHL. he is open to the AHL if he truly is not NHL ready and feels it will help him get ready for the NHL faster than Sweden. Which would be the case as a year of NA ice would do him some good. |

I think you keep Granlund with the twins, put goldy either with Bo or Sutter |

One of my top 3 Canucks Dman was Salo. I am very happy that Juolevi will be doing some training with him. I would love to see Ohlund or Salo come in as a D coach. |

I am not a big Baertschi fan yet. I would like to see Granlund play with Bo and Boeser. |

Problem is that if you put Goldy with the twins, you have a line of people who won't backcheck. At least Granlund backchecks and produced with them. |

Need to stop coddling the Twins . Time to move forward. Our top line had close to 45 goals last year. That is horrible numbers.
Bo and Granlund are your best two scorers right now they should be your top line. |

Classic case of a guy who looks better on a bad team, on a contender he'd be an offensive minded 3rd line winger at best. Might even be sat out at times when he's struggling. |
|
|

St Louis have 1.7 in cap space next year and need to sign Yakupov Paajarvi and Parayko. They do though have 23 players signed for next year already |

No more swedes and no more ex Canucks, why would we want players that couldn't win the big game mentoring these young Canucks, what's the message they are sending, choke when it matters and get a job for life from ownership? |
