Ryan Nugent-Hopkins has been a very good defensive forward for them. |

its why they should have put Reinhart at C. Either he turns into this for you which is valuable (like RNH or J Staal) or he cant do it in which case you should cash in while value is high and AAV is low. |

How do the lines work then? Is Reinhart your 3C? That is a waste to me, IMO.
It's why I think he will be moved for a d-man.

3C only on paper. the same way staal was and RNH is a "3c". They're still seeing big/tough minutes 5v5 and PP/PK.
It isnt a waste until he picks up/wants a big contract (see staal and pens). Until that happens you're rolling three lines deep which is ideal |

Jordan Staal (also a #2 overall) was a 3c for Pittsburgh in 2008 and 2009 (the year they won the cup). That's the kind of depth that wins you championships. It would be far from a waste...if it all pans out.

Tocchet character issues are overblown. For crap sake, Pegula advertises Draft Kings and other gambling sites at his arena. If Rick Tocchet is the best person for the job then so be it. His 11-year-old mistake that he has already paid the price for should be irrelevant.

His character issues arent nearly as big a concern as his 2 years as lightning head coach where they were a terrible team and Stamkos really didnt like him. |

So in two years?
Again Reinhart is the top candidate to get moved IMO for a D-man. |

Stamkos also supposedly "didn't really like" Cooper either. Winning changes that. They didn't quite have the pieces in place they do now when Tocchet was their coach. I'm not going to automatically dismiss him for that.
All in all, he's far from a sure thing. He's no more than an interview candidate (assuming Botterill does indeed get hired). |

he's an RFA next year, likely take some sort of bridge deal so 3 or 4 years from now.
If he can get you a young cost controlled d-man then yea for sure. |

much like their list of gm candidates included forward thinking/progressive names, the coaching search should be a list of guys you know can work well with young players. I mean that's where the talent on this team is anyways.

Stamkos was a kid. I'm not saying Tocchet is the answer because I honestly do not know. But, he certainly shouldn't be eliminated from the conversation because of a non-violent decade-old mistake. |

why are we moving reinhart again?
if other players are getting a pass due to coach, why are we casting aside the second most talented player up front?

I have not seen this in the slightest. Right now he's behind Eichel, Risto, ROR for sure, IMO. |

If this is the case, which it might be, it speaks to how over rated our forward core is.
We need someone better than 23 or 90 to be our 2nd best forward.
No one we have are close to the skill level of a Kuznetsov, Draisaitl, Malkin etc.
We are far away |

I just dont think he will be moved. No good enough reason to. I would see Kane moving before him. Maybe someone should get in on the Jonathan Drouin trade market? |

I never saw anything that said Stamkos didn't like him. In fact most articles I have read give credit to Tocchet for Stamkos' improvement. It started with him sitting for a few games and talking with Stamkos before the all-star game and the second half of the season he put up 32 points in the final 39 games. He then followed that up with 51g 44a the next season under Tocchet (and after training with Gary Roberts that summer.)
If Tocchet could possibly have the same influence on Jack and Sam, then he should definitely be considered. |

I'm hoping this world's tourney boosts girgs trade value. If we can package him with moulson with zero salary retained that's a win imo. Girgs needs to be on a second or third line to flourish and I don't see that happening if we bring 22 back. It's not an ideal scenario but getting rid of that 5 mil wasted on moulson is a must |
