I wouldn't be surprise if Duchene is still on the team next season. He has low value right now.

I'm torn because of the player and person Duchene is, I still feel he could be a very valuable player who has always put the team first. He could have cashed in when he needed a new contract, but he took a discount, and now that's kind of being used against him.

At the same time, if he fetches a top pairing defenseman then I say we do it, but don't make a move just for the sake of making a move.

Agreed, my heart is very torn but I would let go if the offer was big. Even though right now Sakic isn't dealing from a position of strength, he has to stick with his high asking price.

Why should the Avs trade a guy who is, at minimum, a 50 point scorer (and has never had an all-star caliber winger), 60% face off guy and a perfect 1st/2nd line center on a real Cup contender?

Age. It all comes down to age.

The Avs have publicly said they need to get younger. When Mack K (21), Jost (19), Compher (22), Mikko (20), Zads (22), #4 pick (18) and even Barrie (25) and Landy (24) are all ready to really compete for a cup in 3-4 years, Dutch will be 29/30 and on a new contract.

I think the Avs know that they have a strong, affordable asset that will help them get skill and get younger.

Duchene immediately becomes the best center on most Eastern Conference teams (except Pit, Was and NYI..who still need him)

Duchene, by any logic is gone. Sakic is going to get a young Stud D-man and more for him. The question is who blinks first (hello MTL).

By this reason, why should the avs keep tb4 and Landy? Both will be hitting 28 and 29 when we start pushing for playoffs and we will have to pay said new young players. When the avs are a playoff regular and contender I honestly don't see 92, 9, tb4, 6 on this roster.

I don't know how old the Rangers D men are, or for that matter if they're worth it, but it looks like there could be a fire sale in NY. Montreal is in the same boat. Both teams badly need scoring. Carolina is another potential trade partner. I don't see anyone in the west as a possible fit unless Arizona wants to give up OEL for Dutch

I think that TB4 - Drouin trade makes all the sense in the world for both teams.

Landy is somewhere in the middle for me. You do want some vet leadership, he fills a role on the 2nd line LW (where there is no new talent in the pipe_, and he has 4 years left on his contract (vs. 2 for Dutch and 3 for TB4) which means if he is producing, he would be around when they are contending.

Maybe if you can get the B's to trade a Carlo or McAvoy...but the most commonly associated in trade D-men are the same age.
