I'd say probable.

Even using the Kings/Stars example as a comparable, say we shifted systems that gave us 24 goals and 8-10 points, we'd still be what, 7 points from the 2nd WC spot?

So, maybe if we had a different coach, we still are far enough away for it not to matter other than draft position.

This ignores the impact of morale and momentum. In the last weeks of the season, we gave away a ton of points due to "surrender mentality."

1. Dude seriously? Why not get the fake toilet at a pet store and put fresh water in it toilet water is not good at all lol
- GERBE!!!75PTS

Because that sounds like the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.

She likes fresh water from the toilet v. water in a bowl because it gets stagnant

You do realize that is the most unhealthy thing ever.. I'm not talking about the water itself lol

They sell them and it's very useful

Sure, just like we did against Colorado and Arizona when we were actually still in it.

There is no chance this was a playoff roster last year.

Maybe not as far away as 17 points would lead people to think, and maybe a new coach has a bigger impact than I thought it would, but without additional D, we are on the outside looking in

Think this list is very very close. I think Ennis is exposed, my question would be on goalie. I would rather expose Lehner and block Ullmark and ensure that we sign Peterson. I am fine with that (plus sign an NHL backup if needed) for the next year or two, not to mention cap hit. Depending on what Lehner wants for next contract, I think there are better goalies available, so doubt he would be taken anyway.

The "trick" would be to flip a Girgensons or Larsson with a pick to get a better D to block.

I think we have a pretty easy list compared to most other teams.

the goaltending situation is even more interesting when you throw Petersen into the mix...I purposely left him out because of the questions on his future...

that said, most feel that Petersen has legit no. 1 starter potential...so far not many look at ullmark as having bona fide no. 1 potential...personally, I think ullmark won't be any worse than lehner and he still has upside

I think at first I would have said Lehner (mostly because we just gave up a 1st rounder for him), but I think the Ullmark move is better due to cap hits. I believe we should not want a $5+mil cap hit goalie. I think I want to sub in a new-ish goalie every 3-4 years once our goalie can demand $5+ mil in salary. Pay the D to play more shots to outside and goalie is less of an issue.

I think if Lehner is available, I doubt they even take him, so whatever.

Good list, keep the smart moves rolling!

I've been meaning to ask. What was the significance of the Stallone scene at the end of the credits? Are his group good or bad guys?

Would love if Vegas rolled the dice and took Ennis.

Can't wait for that pun to see even more use in future articles about that team taking chances.

Botterill values that C-W flexibility so not sure if either of those two get traded first. Also, plenty of better goalies for your franchise than Ullmark will be available..see Subban and other young teders with a better pedigree

Jeff Blashill commenting on JG

Gaudreau has been a key performer, scoring six goals in the last six games.

“What I’ve been most impressed by with Johnny is his compete level,” U.S. coach Jeff Blashill (Detroit Red Wings) said. “How hard he tracks back to be on the back-check. How hard he comes to the bench for changes. He’s a real example of what it takes to be successful at high levels. Certainly he has lots of skill, but the other things make him a winner.”

Hopefully he influences Eichel to hustle hard back-checking and comes to the bench hard for changes.... big minuses in Eichel's game

Ive seen eichel back check harder than some of our d-men. Just cause he doesnt clunk his way back like the average grinder on skates doesnt mean hes not trying to get back in his own end. its not his strong his suit, the way he generates offence more than makes up for it.

I remember Eichel always is angry whenever he loses the puck or at least most times and wins it back with his backchecking..first time seeing this although it wasnt end to end was his Columbus goal in Buffalo in his first season. Stole it away from Jenner and made the play himself. Eichel is our guy, no need to pick on him for anything too small as he does a lot of good

Well yes he does good but if he wants to be elite he has to be the whole package...he's not elite right now
