It was rumored (Kypreos I think) that Sakic wanted Galchenyuk, Sergachev and a 1st round pick for Duchene. Apparently he told the Habs he wasn't interested in any package that wouldn't at least include Sergachev...can't be real. - stinger67
That seems about right considering how the Avalanche have been. |

Plus they've managed to get the 4th overall pick even with the poopty ass season they've had. |

I actually do have some legit inside info on his night life habits...
Then again, most hockey players have that kind of habit at that age. |

Galchenuyk's value has never been lower. The Avs need D, not an underachieving forward that was designated to 4th line duties. The Habs would need to add Sergachev and a 1st round pick to that to even make the Avs consider it. Personally I'd want a great young defenseman that has already proven himself and I don't think the Habs the that kind of player.

Not exactly a marquee year to suck balls though.
Nico Hischier has numbers between Freakorenko and Ehlers levels
Patrick lower than the RNH level and far less than Draisaitl/Reinhart
Mittlestadt .75PPG lower than Eichel/Matthews (the year BEFORE their draft years) |

Hopefully they keep him and he gets it. The Habs aren't getting any better by trading him anyway. |

I went and asked Avs fans about their opinion on this.
I really feel like it makes sense for both teams but I may be biased. - Scabeh

I agree with this.
As much as I know everyone hates him, Kadri is a very valuable player right now who had similar issue and a similar uninspiring start to his career. It was a good idea to wait it out.

Subban is 3rd or 4th best D on their team. I am cheering for Nashville and Subban, but the real impressive thing about Nashville is the other parts of the D core. Ellis has brought his game up a ton in these playoffs and he was a good Dman already.

That is ridiculous. It is an overpayment, Promising Dmen like Sergachev are too valuable. The habs are one Price/Weber injury, or a Price contract dispute away from that 1st round pick being a very valuable piece.
Honestly, I would keep Galchenyuk. I am not so sure Duchene is even worth pursuing if the Avs are only looking to hit a home run deal. also... I agree that Galchenyuk's value is unrealistically low right now; not a time to trade him. |

Isn't he basically a glorified Plekanec with a little more offensive upside and a history of concussions?
He's not worth it, especially at THAT asking price. |

If my little experiment have told me anything, it's that both fanbase have not really given up on their player considering they both think they are worth more than the results they had last season. |

The mentionned price is silly, but Duchene has had very good offensive seasons over the last few years.
I feel like you gotta discount last year since everything and everyone on the Avs pretty much had career lows.
Imo, Duchene is the more proven commodity, while Galchenyuk is a question mark that could very well become better than Duchene. |
