his presence on stage, and ability to hit the high notes, made him a much better singer by far than anyone else live in the grunge era
- homiedclown

For pure stage presence, nobody could beat Weiland. Saw him with STP and Velvet Revolver.

Those were two solid shows.

Of the really big grunge groups.. Vedder is really the only one left as a lead singer. I'm sure people see some bigger grunge groups or have others to add.

Mine are:

Nirvana (kurt gone)
Soundgarden (Chris gone)
Stone Temple Pilots (Scott gone)
Alice in Chains (Layne gone)
Pearl Jam (Eddie may want to consider moving into a bubble)

Alice in Chains....even some of their newer stuff isn't bad, certainly not "Dirt" or "Facelift".

Pearl Jam - I think PJ left that movement REALLY quick, that's why they're still going strong with their loyal fans.

Smashing Pumpkins was my favorite group from the 90's. Too bad about Cornel. Matt Cameron with Soundgarden > Matt Cameron with Pearl Jam

My bf got to see Cornell do an acoustic show at UB years ago. Said it was probably the best show he's ever seen.

As I've gotten older, I've begun to appreciate the smaller venues and more stripped down type shows so I can relate to why he thinks that.

I grew up in the smaller venues. I'm not sure any arena concert I saw even rates in my top 10 experiences.

Could never get into them; his voice drives me nuts. I love his acoustic stuff from the Into the Wild soundtrack though

The Eric Church concert a month ago at the F'n C was pretty great. But generally I agree.

being in bands my whole life, I prefer the smaller to medium size venues.

I only played one venue that was 2000+ and it's hard to connect with anyone not in the first area.

I agree. I was in the pit for that show. But it wasn't a typical "arena" type show either. No crazy video boards or anything like that. Production wise, it was very low key. It was really all about him and the music.
