I don't follow the EPL that closely.

5 on 5 play is so much more important

For example-

Sabres with #1 PP had 57 PP goals
Philly with 14th ranked PP had 54 goals

Reason - Philly was better 5 on 5 which led to more PP opportunities.

Them being better 5 on 5 made our #1 PP pretty much the same as the #14 PP

Look up the numbers of anybody playing off of Mcdavids line vs. being on it. They typically drop. I know I'm shocked.

Drais best numbers away from Mcdavid came when he was playing center, and thus far he's also better than Mcdavid at faceoffs. I guess they'll have to have the pair of them each centering a different line. Darn. The Oilers are just cursed with bad luck.

But in terms of what the Sabres should do to improve...

Obviously make the defense better

And do it without trading Reinhart
That keeps the PP really good

And I've said many, many times that Draisaitl is better than Reinhart now.

Also Draisaitl had Hall last year too. They both had great seasons away from McDavid. Leon Draisaitl is not the third coming like a lot of people make him out to be.

Mmm. Watching games can tell you a lot of things that numbers on paper won't. Draisaitl started driving play heavily as the year went on. Teams started centering game plans around Mcdavid well before the playoffs ever started, that's when instead of a Mcdavid speed driven attack you'd see them dish to Leon and he would straight muscle it into the zone.

The correct wording would be "Draisaitl did rely heavily upon Mcdavid, but less and less a the year went on." Considering how much apples they both racked up during the year, one could comfortably argue that the relationship was quite mutually benefiicial.
