Mmm. Watching games can tell you a lot of things that numbers on paper won't. Draisaitl started driving play heavily as the year went on. Teams started centering game plans around Mcdavid well before the playoffs ever started, that's when instead of a Mcdavid speed driven attack you'd see them dish to Leon and he would straight muscle it into the zone.

The correct wording would be "Draisaitl did rely heavily upon Mcdavid, but less and less a the year went on." Considering how much apples they both racked up during the year, one could comfortably argue that the relationship was quite mutually benefiicial.

Draisaitl is a superstar. End of story.

That's fine, I don't watch Oilers games. But the original point was that Draisaitl doesn't need McDavid and that's just patently false.

And looking at the numbers shows that Lucic is an anchor on that line.

I gotta agree with that. Really stepped up his game in the playoffs.

How did all that momentum work for Washington when they won game 5 and 6, and scored a ton of goals?

Better yet, how did it work for Pitt in game 4 when they scored 2 goals in the final minutes to tie it, then quickly lost in OT?

Momentum is a horribly misused term.

- sbroads24

that's so schoppian...

momentum isn't carried over from game-to-game, every pro will tell you that...and it changes from period to period...but it's unquantifiable so it has no merit in analytics-world...schopp never played organized sports outside of intramurals

analytics mean you don't need to watch games to know the full value of a player

It's the most overused term in sports broadcasting history.

I believe it's an actual thing, regardless of whether you can measure it or not, but I am told it changes hands so much every game by Pierre McGuire that it's tough to keep track of who has it

Comments of that IG post are epic.

Nice thing about hoodies, zip up or pullover, a jail cell hanging can still occur with a drawstring. That's what happens after playing "catcher" for too long.

Tom Brady has it when he completes every (frank)ing pass on a game winning drive. The Pens had it in game 7 when they were all over the Caps. It's really easy to see who has it.

It's basically a euphemism for confidence.

Have u played sports?
(Not trying to be a d!ck there)

"Momentum" is for sure a real thing
Just like "Confidence" is
Very often, they're intertwined

Agree with the last sentence completely

I think the term is misused/overused

Oilers fans can't even help their own teams, and they've been beating each other off for years.
