This is a given.

I'm hopeful this management team doesn't repeat the mistake of resigning a komisarek. Also...going to say this just once....Tanner is always preaching about analytics and d-men. I think he's half right. The Leafs would be better served trying to shape their d-core like the Predators....stay away from the stay at homes like Alzner and focus on puck possession/puck moving d-men.

The Leafs took the Caps almost to the brink. Do they need help on defense? Sure, but do they need to spend $6M to do it? No way.

The Leafs just really need to solidify their back-end, not go for this major upgrade. They're better off spending around $3.5/$4M on a guy like Del Zotto who will bring solid positional play with some PMD ability than $6M on a guy who's only marginally better than him.

Del Zotto/Reilly is already a massive upgrade over Reilly's current partner.
