in the limited games I've seen, not a lot along the wall, but he loves to drift into the slot when the opportunity arises...the Russian d-men are very active in the offense

Seems like a solid pickup, I look forward to watching the sabres kick ass.

Was listening to WGR the other day, and they were talking about the Mcdavid and Eichel extension most likely to take place this summer. They then went on to say the Drasiatl (sp) would be getting around 8-9 million on an extension this summer. That seems absolutely insane number for him. Yes he was awesome this year but 8-9 mill, that's Malkin and Crosby type money, not sure hes there yet (not to say he wont be soon).
Thoughts?

Sabres should offer sheet him $9M for 6 years. Just to (frank) the Oilers, you think they're going to give him up? Pay them back for Vanek.

Problem with that is it will set the market for guys like Eichel. So even though you screw the Oilers now then it will be payback when Eichel wants what Draisatl got or more.

You're right. However, I do hope, if given any opportunity, they offer 14m or whatever the max $ is next year to McDavid. 0% chance the Oilers don't match it just like there was a 0% chance we let Vanek walk. That sounds more like turnabout for fair play.

That's fine. I'll give Eichel $10M for 8 years.

You really have to stop letting your dog go in the tall grass. Take him in the opposite direction.

Are you in the newer section of the apartments near the cookie factory? Or the older ones near the creek?

Theoretically if it came in on my dog, it wouldn't have jumped off him though.

I check really thoroughly every time we come in. And he doesn't even go into the tall grass, just along the edge. We walk where they mow the lawn

they'll get it done before either has the opportunity to sign an offer sheet

Mcdavid for sure. Leon maybe not depending on how much he's looking for.

They better get cracking. They've got less than 6 weeks.

Edit: For Draisaitl.

On second thought, yeah this.

Connor for certain, but Leon's salary/demands might be abit trickier

I'm sure they're in full negotiations as we speak, but yeah, I'll backpedal an inch and say there's a very slight possibility it's not done in the next 6 weeks

Never know. His agent could realize that he could stand to gain from being offer sheeted. Not sure any team would balk at the 4 1sts for him or whatever ludicrous payment that O/S would demand.

I would be surprised if it gets done before 7/1. I don't think he'll be like Risto and sign the day before the season, or Lindholm or Rakell who sign after the season starts, but if he went into August I wouldn't sweat it.

That's the thing though, it's not a ludicrous payment for that kind of player. And it has to be at least $9.38M(will likely increase a bit for this year, that's last year's number) per for 4 1sts. The problem is you have to use your picks. So if you trade away one of your 2nds or 3rds for the lower levels you can't offer sheet someone. And how many 2nd and 3rd round picks have been flying around?

For him, there really isn't a price that's too much, you're right. 4 1sts won't (most likely) ever reach his value. That's why I'd imagine if the Oilers offer him say 10M that his agent could say, well I can get 12 if we wait...that type of thing.

The picks would limit the number of teams who could actually give him an O/S, but I don't think anyone with the picks to use would shy away. That has to be understood by his agent and his agent will be looking to get him every dime he can. If the Oilers offer him the big bucks right out of the gate as they should, he's most likely signed before offer sheet time as HB says, but I wouldn't say it's fool proof just yet.
