i think a one off move like that is different from an organizational overhaul. part of me kind of wishes he would do it because i think Montreal is in a unique position with some really attractive, valuable pieces but no obvious path to serious contention. personally i don't think Molson would allow it because the late 90s showed that if this team hits the tank, there will be empty seats at the Bell Centre.

Last year, the Habs missed the playoffs, if he WANTED to do an overhaul like you're suggested, it was the perfect time to do it. Instead, he blamed it on leadership/Subban, traded him and kept the rest of the "core" intact.

My point is, he doesn't want to blow it up because he sincerely believes he's doing the right thing, not because he "couldn't do it".
