I wouldn't hate Anisimov. Good 3rd line center.
Depends on the price really, if we could get him for say Carrier/Larsson and a late pick sure - chilliard77
2nd round pick (Minnesota) and young player that does not have to be protected. |

Sam Bennett just requested trade. Interesting - Lilroot9
So unimpressive last year.
Not sure you want someone who doesn't understand you need to earn your ice time on the top lines.

hed have to be coming in as the 2nd line C, moving ROR to jacks wing or something. Otherwise you've got a lot committed to a 3c |

I guess the point is if Chicago moves him it is not for players they have to protect. |

It's irrelevant why they move him. He makes too much money for a 3C. |

Idk why I keep seeing ppl move our best (and only good) defensive center to the wing?
It doesn't make any sense at all to me |

I've always said ROR is more valuable to us at center than wing |

He can still have those responsibilities and take faceoffs while on jacks wing |

Not really
If you're telling O'Reilly to take faceoffs & to take the center position's defensive zone responsibilities, then you're really having him play center
And moving Jack to the wing |

I wouldn't mind if we had other good defensive centers
However, we don't
Larsson & Girgensons are both ok,
But not up against top lines from other teams
It just doesn't make any sense to move O'Reilly to wing

no because in the o-zone he'd still be the #1 offensive option. everything would run through him. |

you may disagree with it and it may not be the optimal strategy in your eyes but saying there's absolutely no reason to move a guy who's best career season came on the wing to the wing sounds ridiculous . |

o-zone FOs wouldn't matter too much. Nobody stays in their positions for very long, it would be pretty easy to draw up a shift. But you'd have to switch it up a little every once in a while lest it be used against you in that second or two the shift takes place.
As for neutral zone of d-zone it would be a little different, but for simplicities sake, and we all saw what happens when you try and be complex it's easier just to leave Jack at center since he can do so much more damage there than on the wing, and just have ROR come on to take big draws in which they're usually on the ice together anyway with Jack on the point, or his wing. |

There are a few instances I can see it being beneficial, but overall I'd rather have him and Jack on separate lines. |

It makes no sense bc we don't have any other defensive centers
And as for your idea to have O'Reilly play center on defense & wing on offense...
what other good defensive centers are used like that?
Or have u just come up with an idea that coaches never thought to do?
I'm not trying to be a d!ck,
It's just a bad idea

It's not unusual for a winger to take faceoffs
But to your point...
if a guy is playing canter in the defensive zone, then he's the center
That's where the position is definable
In the offensive zone, position frequently rotates like u said
So if O'Reilly & Jack were on the same line,
Maybe u could write it up with Jack at center...
but in reality, he'd actually be the winger

You can never have too many centers or too many D men.
I'd never be opposed to grabbing a guy like Bonino or Anisinov and moving someone to wing until an inevitable injury occurs
Same reason I'd grab as many top 4 d men as humanly possible. |

Totally fair
But would u move Bergeron to the wing?
Or Toews?
Not that O'Reilly is as good as them...
but he plays the defensive center role for us
If we're moving him to wing,
then we better be bringing in Kesler or someone to take his spot
The 2 things good teams do to take away offense from other teams...
match up defensemen
And
match up centermen
Moving O'Reilly would be a nightmare for us defensively
And we already aren't good to begin with! |
