What exactly has Rick Tocchet or Phil Housley done as Head coach. Just was stating he would be the best option available in my opinion. Barry Trotz's teams have been in the top of the league in scoring and wins. - MCGUIZZY
maybe he doesn't want a coach of such squat stature? |

he's won in Nashville and Washington and he's a good coach...would he be right for buffalo?...don't know, but I bet he could get this team to the playoffs sooner rather than later |

Playoffs are nice.
Cups are nicer.
Not to say he can't get it done, but I would rather take my chances on a new head coach rather than one that has consistently come up short in the playoffs. |

How has that worked out in the past? Have any new head coaches come in and won a cup recently? Just curious
And was it Trotz who came up short or was it the players? |

How 'bout we try to poach the guy who coaches the Marlies (Keefe?). Could do worse. |

I hear ya...but you're talking to an audience who's team has not made the playoffs in six years and has only two appearances in the last 10 |

Probably neither because the NHL playoffs rarely end up the two best teams in the end.
Washington ran into a really hot goalie who guess what, isn't even starting two weeks later.

there's nothin' that guarantees the next coach will be the answer either...I've referenced the red wings on numerous occasions, they went through five head coaches, including a back-to-back jack adams winner, before they were able to win the cup in 1997 |

This may be a dumb question but does anyone know if Antipin signs before the Las Vegas expansion would he be eligible for the draft. I'm not sure that LV would take him anyways but it may be something that would be considered by management. If we sign him after then we don't even have to worry about him being exposed.
Again not saying that he would be taken but that would be a huge kick to the team if we sign this guy with all the hype we are giving and then he gets taken by the expansion draft.
Since he is not going to be on a rookie contract my assumption is he would be eligible |

He'll be signing an ELC. And even if he were eligible, we can just protect Risto, McCabe and Antipin no problem |

Thanks.. Sorry about the dumb question I forgot that it would still be ELC I thought he aged out of that but just saw that he would still be eligible for the ELC for 1 year since he's under 25.
You are right there really isn't any other D in the system that we would want to protect that isn't automatically protected due to age.

Not exactly a new coach. He was head coach of the Boston Bruins 2003- 2005. |

I wonder what it would take to get Nate Schmidt out of Washington. Sounds like he may be an expansion casualty. Also be interested in Marcus Johansson |
