Man the Devs could use Galchenyuk or Sergachev (preferable). Do you think Kovy would get either? Or what would it take? - redmonsters
for Kovy?
I'd give Plek and Emelin... and a 2nd |

The Canadiens have two other prospects in the tournament who they have already signed to entry-level contracts: Windsor forward Jeremiah Addison and Saint John defeceman Simon Bourque. Both players are most likely to join Montreal's AHL affiliate in Hamilton next season, but will definitely still be looking to impress at the Memorial Cup.
That's just good research |

From a Hawks fan no less. Who you guys gonna give away this year to make your cap work? - Kevin R
excellent question.
I think the core will be splitted. Seabrook? Kane? Toews? time to start over with picks and prospects.
Hossa will probably end his career with the Coyotes. Cap hit of 5.3M but a salary of 1M, |

In all fairness for the past 15 years you can pretty much ctrl-r a few names and publish the same article. |

In the right deal Devs have cap space to retain salary. Any better? |

You don't trade a grade A prospect for a 34 y/o vet, unless you're that player away from winning the cup. and even then, I wouldn't do it. Remember Forsberg for Erat? Yikes!
Habs are not a Kovy away from being a contender, hence why I have no interest in him what so ever.
Habs need 2 top6 centers. Find that, and then we'll see to patch the holes. |

I doubt he'll fetch a top tier prospect or an important roster player considering his cap hit and the fact he's somewhat of a gamble. I do think however he can fetch mid level prospects and/or draft picks. |

Calling Matt Duchene a number 2 centre is a bit disingenuous. - AdamFrench
I guess your right. With 41 points in 77 games he really played more like a 3rd line center this past season. Plus at the world championships he ended as the the third line right wingerwith just one goal and no assists through ten games. I suppose I was being generous calling him a second line center... |

Lots of ridiculousness coming out of Montreal and TSN radio today.
Josi, Forsberg, Johanson, Ellis, Eckholm, Neal, Fisher, do not play for the Habs. PK is great and I wish him the best, I hope they win the cup, but to say that the Subban for Weber trade has everything to do with the current state of the two clubs is a stretch. Carey Price and Weber cannot force Pacioretty to skate to the middle of the ice, they can't force the GM to hire or find a 1C or 2C, they can't Make Byron or Gallagher grow, they can't make Galchenyuk play defense, they can't make Markov age backwards.
Can't people just say that it was a great trade for both teams? In my opinion Pacioretty is a great guy but he is the problem in Montreal. Rather, the pressure placed upon him to be a power forward, driving the net, carrying the team on AND OFF the ice now...is too much for him. If the Habs had a legit 1C and 1LW, and removed his C, Pacioretty would thrive. I do think he is better than a 2LW, but I also think he's not quite there as a 1LW.
People will argue that his production says so but any 2LW placed on the 1st line, 1st PP unit, chosen as the leader, face of the franchise etc. etc. will produce. I just don't think he's a leader and the rift (apparent rift) between he and PK was the problem. Now there will be an unspoken problem with the real captain (Weber) not wearing the C. It will weigh on the team and it will probably weigh on Pacioretty too. Trade him and whoever else for the 1C that the team desperately needs.
I don't think the Habs' issues have much to do with PK Subban and I think the arrival of Weber did nothing but help fix the team.

Trading Price is insanity. I sincerely do not understand Habs fans. I would have traded Talbot straight across for Price 10min before the start of game seven vs. Anaheim. |
