I don't think its terrible. I like Miller, but I'd rather have Hayes. - Ed Stein
And I'd rather have Montour |

nah that one isn't as bad. I wouldn't make it though if I were the ducks. I think defensemen are at a premium in the NHL (see Hall/Larsson) but the overwhelming similarity in all of these trades that are "lopsided" is desperation/need. - YuenglingJagr
well ive seen people throw out names like JVR. its most likely my biased opinion buti'd rather have the younger cheaper player |

Again, why would they trade him? If you're insinuating that they might trade him because of contract negotiations...I won't say it isn't a possibility, I would just say it is a stupid move - YuenglingJagr
It's not as if he isn't irreplaceable. If he wants Aaron Ekblad money he'll be traded for a valuable asset. There's a huge difference between needing to sign a player (Getzlaf and Perry) and wanting to. We WANT to resign him, but don't necessarily need to. That's how teams get hamstrung in the salary cap era.
Lindholm was the D player that needed to be signed. With Theodore, Montour, Manson, Vatanen, (if Fowler is gone), and the afore mentioned Lindholm, we've got enough depth on D to absorb losing Fowler. I'm not even taking into consideration kids in the minors. |

so is it pretty much only Fowler and Sami V that are potentially traded before the exp draft?
I mentioned previously (i think to you Ed) about a swap for JT Miller, just wondering what you guys think - mrn22
I would do a Miller for Vats swap. Miller will be RFA after next season, so that might be a consideration (maybe not), but that seems like a fair trade. I know there's some concern about his ability to step it up in the postseason, so he should feel right at home with the Ducks. (yes that was a dig on our players) |

Miller's postseason numbers are strange, esp when you watch him take over games in the reg season. Im hoping he figures that part of his game out.
If they made that trade can you guys promise not to trade him to Pitt a couple months later |

You dont think he would deserve that money? I think he would. The problem is when you pay guys more than they should get and/or more than other teams would pay him. It is a problem that comes up when you sign guys to the contract he was signed to. |

Is Max Jones expected to make the team in the next couple of seasons or is he a project ? I remember him being ranked as high as 3rd overall to start his draft year. How excited are you guys for him ? - blizzzard
I saw Max Jones play in an AHL playoff game a couple of weeks ago down here in San Diego. He looked a little lost at that point. My guess is that he'll play in San Diego next season and we'll see how quickly he can progress. Probably one to two years down here with the occasional call up. |

There is something the non-Ducks fans are failing to take into account. Anaheim has an internal budget and Murray will due his best to stay aprox $5M under the cap. Its the way they do business.

I have certainly factored that in. Also factored in that the cap and salary are different (i.e. Bieksa buyout) |

We should all know by now that he is clickbait. I don't even know if he's a real person. No rational observer could possibly come to the conclusions he does. And his hipster, social justice warrior disposition is clearly contrived. |

I disagree Ed. This year we were a cap team, and I think we'll be one for the foreseeable future. (Actually above the cap this year, but LTIR allowed us to stay under.) The expansion $ is a gift from heaven, and making any decent playoff run also adds to the coffer. Imo, we'll be a cap team as long as BM thinks the Cup window is open. |

You're wrong. Because Bieksa is on a 35+ contract, the buyout and cap hit are exactly the same. There's zero savings. |

Jones won't be 20 till 2018, so he'll be back in juniors next season. I was able to watch most of SD's playoff games, sometimes he looked lost, but he also created some good offensive opportunities. I was more impressed than not with his brief AHL stint. Hopefully he now has a good idea of what he needs to work on next season. |

No. There are no cap savings from a buyout, they still pay him 2/3 of his contract over the next two years |

My bad. I meant to say the cap hit was still 4M in the event of a buyout. |

Wonder how the revelation of the shoulder injuries and eventual surgeries is going to affect the expansion draft plans. It looks like Lindholm will be out until November or December and Vatanen will be out even longer. That makes Vatanen virtually untradeable but I wonder if the Ducks leave Sami exposed? Would McFee take a player knowing he might not be able to play at all next year? |

Certainly interesting news. I don't think it would prevent him from getting picked, but that would depend on who is available. I think some of the picks Vegas makes will be puzzling. They have 30 picks but not all have to be under contract and I don't think all of them will be the "best" player that's available |
