13 day road trip over, put around 2500 miles on the PHEV Outlander most of that highway driving.

First of all, it's not really mean for that type of driving but can do it admirably for the most part when called upon.

With 1 back seat down I was able to cram 3 suitcases, camping gear including 3 lawn chairs, sleeping bags, tent, air mattress, gas stove and kitchen ware,2 coolers and 2 sets of golf clubs and some other odd things into the small size SUB although it was crammed.

The driving through the mountains was a little laborious for the fully packed vehicle, although I was still able to maintain 80-85 on the big hills today on the way home. One really weird thing I don't like is that the hood seems to want to lift up at those speeds.

Also, fuel efficiency really suffered with the full load through the mountains.

Considering my first tank of fuel lasted for 1600 miles when mostly city driven without much over 50 MHP the car certainly meets my needs, and it's very comfortable.

If that's the kind of driving you do it's a great buy, and it can pinch hit on a road trip without getting any kind of range anxiety or having to stop for extended charge times. Today was 600 miles traveling in about 8 1/2 with multiple stops.

hood flutter is real and it is scary. when i was a kid i drove my dad's 1987 grand marquis a lot and the hood was the size of a billboard. it fluttered like a mother(frank)er and i always knew if that thing ever flipped up that darkness would be the last thing i ever saw.

Again, mostly city driving so it's not the biggest concern. The electric driving experience is really enjoyable though, I'm thinking in a few years I'll trade in the Elantra for something purely EV

I've sat in the Lightning and they're really nice. I don't tow so an electric truck is fine by me, but towing and extreme weather really cut down on range.

Yeah I read that as well. Might make me hold off. The other issue for towing nobody talks about is getting to a goddamn charger with a trailer attached. for 99% of charging stations right now you can't do it.
