i had read about it in car & driver but then i didn't hear anything in so long that i forgot about it. those taillights kind of do look like something volvo would do.

They're trying to make it reminiscent of the Saintly P1800. I'd rather have a well-preserved one of those. Perhaps an electric conversion.

Polestar = Pole Star = a star in the night sky aligning with the Earth's axis. Currently Alpha Ursae Minoris (Polaris) in the north, and Sigma Octantis (Polaris Australis) in the south.

However, the name association derives from the Swedish auto racing team which Volvo bought. However, they renamed the team "Cyan" for some inexplicable reason.

Wished more pics of it were released. Guess we'll have to wait to see it in the movie. Looking at some search result examples and I think its design has aged really well.

So does the sliding side door.

Come to think of it, why is that a feature of pretty much only vans? I would think it would also maybe be useful on SUVs, especially on the big ones with 3 rows. A big enough sliding door and maybe the third row can get out without having to move the second row seats. I can't see it being a rigidity issue. If they can make it rigid enough on a van, they can do it on an SUV. Especially ones that aren't meant for heavy duty off-roading.
