yep. its a good color and its right around the time GM starting using the metallic type paints. my first car was a chicago version of the cutlass supreme called a GMO. it was metallic brown and not a color i would usually pick but that baby was sharp at night after it was waxed.

the GMO was kinda between the reg and the 442. kinda similar to the hurst type of supreme. the body lines weren't as boxy as others of that era.

that car could move. it had a rocket 350 4 barrel. once the all 4 barrels opened it just flew. car went from 50 to 90 in the blink of an eye

it was only sold in the chicago area. the GMO stood for the gallant men of olds and was only offered to olds dealers in chicago. i think they only offered in for a couple of years but not sure.

its was sportier 2 door model of the supreme. came with a chrome package, rally wheels and leather interior.

funny story. i walked onto the used car lot and spotted a black on black supreme that i wanted to buy. the car salesman came over and talked me out of it. told me to never buy a black used car and when buying a used car to always buy one from a lot of the same dealer. he then walked me over to the GMO and said this is the car you want. i fell in love with it. i bought my first 3 cars from him. by the time i bought my 3rd car he was one of their top managers but still took the time to sell me a car because i was a repeat customer. he eventually owned at least one dealership

nice. it's hard to find car salespeople who don't just want to make as much money as possible. when i was a kid i worked at an big (at the time) auto mall, 5 dealers and all the salespeople seemed so scummy.

good. the 74 is way less boxy. and while the 76 is fine for the time, that grill didn't work to me.

did you have the little vinyl roof on the back or no?

yes. the color was metallic brown and white. the interior was white leather. chrome mirrors and wheels. and of course bumpers. she was a beaut.

and yes the 74's were less boxy. 75 is when GM started getting boxy with that platform line across all models.

the car i bought was a bit more than i wanted to spend at the time and he never pressured me at all. he just laid out all the info and let me decide. he even made the first move with the price.

i guess after 74 is around the time everything got boxy and slow. V8 engines that only had 175 hp and poop.

we had a 1976 buick lesabre custom (also 2 door with the little vinyl roof in the back). it wasn't too boxy except in the front but it had a V8 engine with 155 hp. womp mother(frank)ing womp.

those were tanks. the late 60;s version of the LeSabres were much sportier

we had a Ford LTD around that time. up till them my dad was an impala guy. he had 3 of them.

he traded the LTD for a merc cougar and someone at the same HS i went to bought the LTD. freaked me out the first time i saw it in the parking lot. fun fact. since we moved to the burbs right before my senior year i never changed my address and drove my sister's 75 camaro to school.

at some point we had some other really long vehicle that we parked on the other side of the house. i was too young and can't remember what it was. iirc, it was like a light avocado green. so it was true to the era, whatever that car was.
