Lehner to the Flames for Oliver Kylington
5th rd pick to Islanders for Halak (1 year left)
sign Cal and tell him it's open competition for the starting goalie - homiedclown
I think even if they bridge Lehner that opens the door for Cal.
If we signed Lehner to a big deal, no way Petersen would want to sign and not test FA

The more I look at it,
there's a bunch of teams with issues at forward when it comes to expansion
Another forward we could look to poach...
James Neal
Nashville will go 4-4-1 and protect their defense
At forward, they will for sure protect Johansen, Forsberg & Arvidsson
Do they protect Neal as the 4th?
He will be 30 to start next season, going into the last year of his contract
I think they might wanna protect Jarnkrok instead
He's younger, cheaper, and most importantly a center
I think they see Jarnkrok as their #2 for the next few seasons at least
So then do they let Vegas snag Neal?
Or would they rather trade him,
and let Vegas take Colin Wilson or Craig Smith?
Either of them we could potentially trade for as well |

I mentioned Neal a few weeks ago.
We have room to add forwards just as well as defense
Vegas is going to select as many D as possible to use as trade chips
If we can snag Neal, we can use one of our other forwards or Neal as a chip for a D man.

If/when Pittsburgh does trade MAF, does that mean they have to sign a goalie to have one to expose in the expansion draft? They would protect Murray and I don't think they have another goalie that meets the expansion requirements. |

From my understanding, yes. Or expose someone from the farm system. You have to expose the proper amount of players designated by the rules. Although, if they trade him, more then likely they would be taking back an established (not in quality per se, but in terms of exposure rules) back would be my assumption. Also, there are plenty of easy sign and expose goalie out there that can be picked up. There is also not a limit to the amount of games a goalie must have played, making it easier to just expose someone from the farm. |

I really like where Botterill's head is at. This guy sounds mature enough to handle the job of building a seriously competitive franchise and it sounds like he understands all of the pieces needed to make that happen. |

Matt Murray is not the backup, MAF is. This became Murray's team last year. MAF will be playing for a new team next year. - Dcoms
Pittsburgh has to trade Fleury, ask him to waive NMC (good luck) or lose Murray to Vegas. So if we (or anyone) wanted Fleury, just low ball it, because they will be desperate. (but winning the cup last year and getting close or winning it this year, I would take having that type of problems) |

Jack Eichel might become the Buffalo Sabres' new captain.
Brian Gionta has held that position, but he's scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. If Gionta's gone, then Eichel's main competition for the 'C' would be Ryan O'Reilly. Sabres GM Jason Botterill feels that there's no "one completely right decision" when it comes to picking a captain, but ultimately it will be up to Buffalo's next coach to make the call. With that in mind, it will be a little while before we find out if Eichel will be the new captain.
