Money talks
Also, I think fedun fits Botterill's vision more than Falk - jcragcrumple
Fedun would be a nice depth signing
Can start in Rochester & be called up
I'd also be cool if we signed Mike Weber to Captain Rochester
He'd be perfect imo
And send a low round pick to Philly to bring back Tj Brennan
Need to take care of the Rochester defense
All we have there right now is Nelson, & Austin if we re-sign him
Florentino will be a rookie
I'd probably pass on the others
Guhle & Borgen (if signed) could also start there |

I'm thinking/hoping that Antipin will be a dman along the lines of an Andrei Sekera. Hopefully, with a bit more offense to him. If he can turn into that...that'd be huge for this team. |

me too although I really liked falk's game last year...key for botts is moving at least one dead-weight contract...two would be ideal and if he happened to move both bogo and gorges, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it - Michael Pachla
Bogo is tough to move
Gorges can probably be traded, or easily bought out cheap |

How Anaheim's defense got so deep...
Lindholm- drafted 1st round (#6) 2012
Fowler- drafted 1st round (#12) 2010
Vatanen- drafted 4th round 2009
Manson- drafted 6th round 2011
Bieksa- signed UFA 2015
Stoner- signed UFA 2014
Montour- drafted 2nd round 2014
Theodore- drafted 1st round 2013
Despres- traded for, originally drafted by Pitt- 1st round 2009
On the way:
Jacob Larsson- drafted 1st round 2015
Keaton Thompson- drafted 3rd round 2013
Marcus Pettersson- drafted 2nd round 2014
Josh Mahura- drafted 3rd round 2016
Young guys in the system who may/ may not make it:
Andrew Welinski- drafted 3rd round 2011
Jaycob Megna- drafted 7th round 2012
* they also drafted Jake Gardner & Justin Schultz in rounds 1&2 of 2008 |

How long is Vatanen out? If he's healthy before the Expansion he could be traded. I still think Anaheim's order of protection goes:
Fowler
Lindholm
Vatanen
Manson
They'll have to figure out Bieksa, while Montour and Theodore are exempt. Keep in mind they could also just trade Vegas something and say 'pick one of these lesser guys', it'd have to be quite the sweetener but it's happened in previous expansions. |

Yeah moving both would be a great. I still think the Sabres can be a playoff team with Bogo, but not with Gorges. If you can get someone to take Bogo's contract, i would do it, but not if it means giving up meaningful assets. |

I'd be very surprised if Fedun hasn't earned himself a one-way contract somewhere.
Is mike weber still an active player?

Vatanen had surgery
Will miss the start of next season
Unlikely he's traded now
Bieksa will waive or be bought out
They'll protect 7-3-1 (so they don't lose Silfverberg)
Manson likely traded imo |

Austin is a very intriguing player heading into the next season or so...has great size but is incredibly mobile for a player with that frame...not saying he'll be a top-two d-man, but his development may give him a shot at cracking the lineup in a year or two |

Anaheim's defense at some point next season...
Lindholm-Montour
Fowler-Vatanen
Theodore-Larsson/Despres
5 drafted 1st round
Montour in 2nd
Vatanen in 4th
That's why I've been so critical of Murray not drafting defense |

Good AHLer,
3rd pair guy when called up imo
Definitely should be re-signed
Looked much better with Buffalo actually than he did in Rochester last year
But they were just such a mess |

Vatenan will miss at least the 1st month |

he was focused on offense...completely flipped the depth chart...remember the core days and how we didn't have any centers outside the two top-20 centers who weren't' top-20 at all? |

big body who can skate and has some offensive skills...nhl is more structured than ahl during games and some players find it easier to play in that type of situation...I think e-rod and Ullmark are those types of players |

Yet if we trade a forward of importance we create a hole.
We still lack depth everywhere |

moving kane will create a hole in the roster...depth up-front has been slowly making it's way through the system |
