I'm sure it was all just a play to the gallery.
It feels better if you and Boyd both could go back to be hateable again

I'm only hateable to Pens fans, because I use logic, and acknowledge when the Pens suck and when they have a horseshoe stuck up their ass.

Intelligent as always. Detailed rebuttal showing you for sure understand that luck is the only factor that made the pens win and not the hard work and talent.

Think about it. Mayweather rarely landed more punches than his opponent. But he won all the time. Was he just lucky too? Or is it that he did well when it counted most and won because of it.

Part of this discussion is acknowledging that savvy and smart players can more often than not create their own luck. To be the recipient of a lucky bounce, or to make a critical pinch, you have to place yourself in position to make it happen. Its not all a roll of the dice. The Pens have some attributes that Corsi cant measure, which drives people like Tanner nuts.

I'm not saying luck was the reason you won, but the better team lost that game.

There's a difference between being a defensive-counter striker and being bad a defense and eating punches to the face. Difference is Mayweather doesn't get hit, but the Pens were getting out attempted, outshot, out scoring chances, and everything else. That is not Mayweather hockey. Terrible comparison. (frank)ing god awful.

Not every Pens fan.. There are a few knuckleheads over in Tanner's blog saying luck doesn't exist or some bullpoop like that
- j.boyd919

I assumed that was just to piss off Tanner

That mau be true a fews times this playoffs. But you have to acknowledge the talent it takes to win when you spend over half the game in your zone.

Mayweather won all the time because nobody can hit him. He may be boring but he never gets outhit.

Mayweather took lots of body shots. Pens block a lot of shots before they get to the net. Theres also a think called resiliency. The ability to withstand a lot of shots and keep fighting. Or is that actually called luck too?

He might get out power punched... but he'd have a hundred or two more jabs landed, at 20% or more accuracy...

Agreed. Pens were not a good possession team this year. They ranked 18th with a 49%. Yet they were 1st in scoring and second in goals for % at 59.1%. And of course second best record. This has actually been a year long trend of out-performing their possession metrics not just the playoffs. 100 games is a long enough sample size.

And that's almost all advanced stats. But most advanced stats guys only want to talk about possession. But some teams just have better shooters to take advantage of their opportunities and better goaltending. Particularly against Washington, that's what happened. Fleury played unreal, Holtby didn't and the Pens buried most of their chances.

Guess I don't watch much boxing but I saw him get body shots a lot and protect the head. Which is experience. Dont allow the critical hits and be durable enough to shrug off the minor ones. Is that luck?

I think it's funny that people assume that the game the Pens played Monday night is the game they will play tonight or going forward. I, for one, thought it was one of, if not the worst game the Pens played in these playoffs, so for them to pull a win out of their collective asses was impressive. I trust that HCMS will have them playing a much better game tonight. The Pens have played their best games these playoffs after their worst ones (see game 6 to game 7 in the Caps series, and game 3 to game 4 in the Sens series)

No, it's skill. I just didn't think it was a good comparison.
