Neither the Penguins organization nor any private security force that they employ is allowed to charge anyone with a crime. They removed him from the building, which was the correct thing to do. If they choose to file a report, I can't blame them due to the timing.
In Detroit, the Octopus is thrown onto the ice prior to the game. Last night, it was done in the middle of the period, which caused an unnecessary stoppage.
The guy won't be prosecuted, but it was more of a statement by the organization that doing it won't be tolerated. Not a big deal. - jmatchett383
Should get a charge of some kind. On the ticket to most arenas (I assume PPG is no different) it says by accepting this you agree to the arena terms and violation could result in a criminal charge. Throwing things on the ice is against the terms. Give the guy a small fine and ban them from the arena. Do it to the idiots that threw their towels in game 7 too. |

Meh. (frank)'em. - BINGO!
So if they throw it one the ice while the pucks in the preds zone and play is going to stop the pens offense should the preds get a delay of game penalty? You can't let fans throw stuff onto the ice during a game. They'll try cheating with it. |

But what is the charge? Did he physically harm anyone? Did he cause distruction of property? Did he threaten anyone?
But because the ticket says it "could" result in a criminal charge, that doesn't mean that all violation of arena terms are also laws.
I'd be more concerned that "Disrupting a meeting" is a criminal offense in Pittsburgh. |

Jacob Waddell has since been charged with disorderly conduct, disrupting a meeting and possessing instruments of a crime.
I think it's silly, personally. Dude threw a catfish onto the ice, got escorted out. It ends there. It wasn't disorderly conduct, there was no "meeting", and no crime was committed.
Edit: That said, if the wording of the law actually applies to what he did, then it's on him for doing something stupid. |

Solid write up - This game fell on Rinne not handling the 2 goals he should have saved. I still feel if the Preds consistently put the effort in that they had last night, they will take this series. The 5-on-3 was a brutal call- not for Neal's stupid Cross check, but for the other call.
This has the potential to be a great series. Rinne need to step up his game.
Penguins have the win - But do the Preds actually have more momentum after that game?

Nice write up Gunner. I agree with all you said. That was a crazy game. We need to find a better way to play with a lead. And tossing it up the boards does't work, duly noted. |

I didn't say could means will. Im saying in this case it should.
Littering, vandalism, or trespassing by purposely violating the terms of being a ticket holder in the arena. All are minor fines, all fit the action. |

Actually the charge of disorderly conduct is very in order. Disrupting a professional sporting event like this is no different than streaking, etc.. It's one thing if it's a high school kid but it's just dumb and irresponsible for an adult to do and he should at least pay a fine.
If they let people like this off with a simple slap on the wrist, events like this will become a magnet for people wanting to act out and get attention. They have to at least pay a healthy fine, have it on record and maybe even have his attendance to NHL games banned for a year...even though I'm sure he'll be given free tickets to the Nashville games. The possession of an instrument of crime is overboard but funny. |

When one team plays like dog poop and only gets 11 shots on the goalie and still wins with four goals plus an empty netter, there's really only one way of looking at it.
We better come out better tomorrow. Preds are too good and hungry to pull off another Washington on them. I don't understand why at the start of every series Sullivan insists on playing our blue line conservatively when it's so obvious we're a
Much better team when the back end plays aggressive. |

Good lord Ron Hainsey was terrible. Lazy turnover that led to a goal, thankfully got called back. Then tried to injure Matt Murray. Treats the puck like a hand grenade and blindly throws the puck away even when he has no pressure. Seems like a good guy, but he's bad at hockey. - jmatchett383
can we get a shirt for that?

I don't think the preds dominated as much as some think. It's a blessing we won that game taking 90% of it off. We can and will be better...and likely so will nashville. I think this is a throw away game for both teams. But what isn't a throw away is that rinne doesn't have a solid track record against the pens. Sid and the boys seem to know how to beat him. Like bob and holtby before him..if the pens have u pegged ur gonna be in tough. |

Given Rinne's record against the Pens in his career and how the Pens historically have schooled goalies of his size and type (tall and lanky), as much as he's their man, it sucks that he's probably their Achilles heal right now too. I know no one wants to hear it and it sounds crazy, but he's probably the wrong goalie for this series, just as much as Fleury was the wrong goalie against the Sens based on his historical play in their arena.
If I was the Preds, I'd feel very confident. But that said, there's no way the Pens come out and play as poorly as they did last night and the Preds have to know that too. The next game will be very interesting to see what teams show up. |

So, by that rationale, the thousands of people who threw plastic rats onto the ice in 1996 should have been charged, even though the team handed them out especially for that reason?
How about people who throw towels onto the ice in disgust after a game? Or the guys who throw the octopi onto the ice in Detroit?
I don't think he disrupted it since there wasn't any active gameplay happening. Like I said, this guy paid several hundred dollars (maybe more than $1K) for his ticket and got kicked out midway through the first. To me, that's enough of a deterrent to stop the everyday man from doing it again. I agree it's dumb, but to me, it's not criminal. |

The catfish actually came at a good time for the Pens. Sid's line was out a while and had to stay out due to an icing. Dude gave us a nice long break. |

So it wont be happening game 2? What are you betting?
Edit: Also it is criminal. If I go into your house even if I paid to enter it and throw a stinky fish on your carpet you can charge me for vandalism and destruction of property. |

So after rewatching the highlights this morning, Mallrats was on and I checked that out. Good lord, I forgot how adorable Claire Forlani was in that movie.

It's like some conservative feeling out process. Why they do it? Who knows, but it's far from "getting to their game". Doesn't excuse the 3rd period where they knew they had to come out more determined and establish a forecheck, win some puck battles and get some rubber on net, but essentially they just laid an egg just like in the 2nd. THAT p!$$ed me off.
