You don't consider stopping/slowing games in the championship round of any sport is a "serious inconvenience"? - Zac_O

How many people are watching the game? He delayed the game for 2-3 minutes. That makes it a fairly serious crime. What is the economic value of 2-3 minutes times 3-4 million people? 6 million minutes equates to 100k hours. Average wage of a viewer is likely $25. So he caused 2.5 million in economic loss. Would be equivalent to setting fire to a mid-sized school. - sditulli

You can stretch it to say he fit definition 4, MAYBE. Disorderly conduct is nothing but a loosely-defined catch-all for anyone who does something that the masses don't like and find appropriate.
Yup. Pretty much. That's why doing what he did, and where he did it was dumb. Just for poopzngiggles, they probably could have trumped up a bunch of charges like terroristic threats (that's a good one they always like to pull out when you make them mad) just because they can. Hey, I don't make the rules. Trust me, I've been on the other end of this kinda crap when I was young but I'm not obtuse enough to expect actions like this wouldn't also land me in jail for at least a night and I sure wouldn't pull it as an adult with a career and/or a family depending on me. Common Sense. He didn't have it. That is all.

Okay...so the definition uses circular logic to define itself. I still don't find what he did to be "disruptive" any more so that someone sitting at a green light because they were busy fiddling with the radio. - jmatchett383
You're right, the charge is a joke... so is sneaking a dead catfish into a sporting event to throw onto the ice. |

They arent done with intent of slowing down the game. If you can't tell the difference you aren't very smart. Celebration is different than distraction. - Zac_O
What is a Flyer scored a hat trick in Pittsburgh and I threw my hat?
You know what, (frank) it, this is stupid.
It's not a crime, and if you think that the law was intended to punish people for something as petty as this, then we're just not gonna agree. |

No, I don't. And he wasn't stopping the game play when he threw it, it was between whistles. - jmatchett383
And that slowed down the game by making it so they have to clean a gross fish off the playing surface. Which is inconvenient for thousands of people watch the game there. |

Already said celebration is different. You just ignore all the points I make and then claim it is stupid. Whatever dude. Laws are laws, they need to be enforced. |

It's incredibly stupid.
Throwing the catfish is dumb, but he got kicked out and probably a ban, so that's settled.
Getting the police involved is even dumber. |

Even though the Pens didn't play great, I don't think it was a lucky win. They scored some nice goals with the Bonino one being the exception. If the Pens took 10 more harmless shots from the outside would everyone be making such a huge deal of it? Washington dominated some of the games against the Pens but this was not the same.
The Preds weren't making fantastic plays out there and getting robbed. They were opportunistic on the PP and Watson made a nice play to set the 3rd one up. Both teams will make adjustments and both will be better next game.
If the Pens D can figure out how to pass the puck on the breakout they are going to win this in 5 games. They have 4 lines that can score goals rolling right now, just need to get it out of their own end. - MacPatty
I'm going with lucky because of the Bonino goal and Forsberg being just a fraction offside. Preds got a lucky bounce as well on their second goal, but that's a crashing the net bounce where you sometimes get rewarded for doing the right thing.
But the Predators didn't put enough pressure at even strength to score more or even make it tough on Murray. And once again the opposing goalie doesn't come up with the big saves despite not seeing many tough shots. That's not luck. Pens are always a threat to outperform normal shooting percentages with their finishers. Preds needed Rinne to stop the Malkin and/or Guentzel goal with how well they defended overall and he didn't. Those were good, not lucky shots, but entirely savable for a good goalie. Can't give up 4 goals and say you're unlucky. |

When they make throwing dead animals on the ice hockey tradition everywhere, we'll revisit this. Until then...onto Game 2. |

Because nobody gives a (frank).
Somebody threw a fish, got kicked out, and somebody else cleaned it up in a matter of seconds.
Done.
Why this is going any further is brazen stupidity. As is the fact that it's being discussed at all. |

2-3 minutes...were we watching the same game? Try about 1 minute.
And that makes it a "serious crime?" Sorry, who was he murdering while they cleaned it up?
Get a grip. - jmatchett383
Well that is the interesting philosophical question. But undoubtedly that small act inconvenienced a lot of people. Maybe just 1 min. So everyone suffered a small amount, but if everyone behaved like him and inconvenienced a large amount of people all of us would feel the societal effects.
And yes its a real problem Take a country like Greece where everyone cheats some on their taxes. Then you have a country that just doesn't function well. Or the trains can't run on time because everyone is delaying it a small bit of time for their own personal convenience.
It might not be a big deal in our society, but small interference with order can cause big problems.
Or maybe a Doctor lost an extra minute of sleep because of that incident. And his mind was a little slower and made a bad decision the next day costing someone their life. |

We'll start with how small you're being and go from there.
I kinda wanna talk about how that other dude compared throwing a dead fish on the ice to burning down a school. |

Please answer the question, how is it not at least littering? If I can get in trouble for throwing a straw out the window of my car he should get in trouble for throwing a dead thing into a hockey rink. |

Put it this way. If you don't punish him. And 30 bozos/game start doing it suddenly you have 30 min of delays to the game. And that would significantly alter the product.
Yes its not a big deal when one person does it. But if everyone did it the losses to society would be quite large. |
