see the la kings
brown
gabby
wonky quick
richards
but they got their cups as well
never see the penguins with a bunch of bad contracts though
let's hope gmjb played a hand in that - homiedclown
Nope.
And I do think GMJB is a big reason for that.
How does a team that won a cup 9 years ago, and last year have less bad contracts than our rebuilding team? |

I believe they have until 5 pm...then again, one would think they'd have inked him by now if they wanted him |

because the have one of the greatest players ever to play the game in Crosby and they have an all-time, top-101 in Malkin as his sidekick? |

in the nfl, if you don't sign with your team you must wait a year and then can be re-drafted
that would solve a lot of these issues
once your done with school, if you don't want to sign with your team then you must sit out a year - homiedclown
I agree completely. The NHL rule is BS and creates horrible situations like the Vesey one. Agents put greedy ideas in these kids heads and the teams who drafted them are left holding the bag if the the player decides to finish college then hold out. |

Yes, but I guess what I am getting at is that they managed to become a contender, stay a contender, and be able to maneuver the cap in the meantime.
They might not have a cup last year if they weren't able to maneuver the Kessel deal |

yeah...I get that...some very nice work in both Pittsburgh and Chicago the last 1/2 dozen years |

It isn't a huge loss but he was a decent prospect, I just can't think of why they wouldn't sign him |

Yeah, the point totals from year 2-3 argument seems like a dull one. The kid had a massive improvement from his draft year to year 2 and then still added more points to that this year. I would have offered him a contract, but I will now just hope that he doesn't pan out elsewhere.
89 pts in 68 games is solid. Wore the "A" for the last two years in Lethbridge. I'm just not sure what's not to like. I hope the excuse involves him not wanting to sign vs them not wanting to sign him. |

I see the rules need to be changed so teams don't waste there time waiting for a player that will flee. Let NHL teams carry rights for 1 year after a player leaves NCAA and that makes the player either sit for a year or sign your contract. They sign, Problem solved.
If you don't want to go that route then give compensatory picks to teams that lose players through NCAA. |

that's fine, and I agree...but those aren't the rules right now and it wasn't a problem until now...and even so, it's only a problem in select cities like NSH, BUF, EDM pre-McSavior |

If we can't/don't sign Petersen, Estephan, Vesey (last year), I think it is an indication of the long road to credibility that the Sabres franchise has in front of it.

Estephan shouldn't be in that group, but the Sabres definitely have a long road to credibility |

Yes, but its time to equal the playing field and not have players run off to NYR, BOS and CHI. Without even playing an NHL game. |

Not really, guys usually go home. I don't think it has much to do with credibility when it comes to Vesey and Peterson and really who cares about Estaphan he will be tweaker if he is lucky. |

It just happened to be the last song I listened to. Way better than the original, but that's probably due to the fact that the original sounds like a single track recording on the other side of a wall. |

We also have one of the highest percentages of Alumni who stay here after retirement, I read. It may not translate to College UFAs or young draftees because the "perks" are for a somewhat older crowd though. Having a good school system, a low cost of living and cheap housing aren't things that the average 18-21 year old aren't concerned with. (At least this is the only logical explanation I've come up with).
