The Pens basically can protect 6 forwards anyway with Guentzel and Sheary exempt. I'd rather lose a wing than a defenseman, but others may agree with you.

RFA or not, you qualify him, then you work out a deal but don't sign it until after the expansion draft. That way, you can go 7F/3D and then sign him after the ED.

I might be wrong, but I was under the impression that LV could draft the rights to an unsigned RFA and that counts as their selection from that team.

I don't mind Daley back for 2 years 2-2.5 per
I like Bonino back for 3-4 years at 3.25-3.5 per
Kunitz 1 year - 1.75 over less
Not sure if any of that can get done.

I really don't see why MAF would waive his no trade clause or put VGK on the list as one of the teams he'd want to be traded too. Don't get me wrong, if it is true that his wife is checking out the area, apparently it is possible; I just don't get why. If I were him I would either want to stay with my team, move to another contender, or head to a place close to home. It amazes me that the Pens are going to pull this off and get out of this situation.

Doesn't Vegas get the rights to match him then? He would still be their player at that point and getting a team friendly deal is out. I'd rather just lose our #7 forward. Or offer a pick to protect Hornqvist, haven't decided on that part.

I could see that if he wasn't a strong goalie but he is still very capable. I think he would be the #1 in a ton of cities. Like I am sure he would control the net in Winnipeg, Arizona, or Philly; and all of those teams are going to be a lot stronger than an expansion team for years to come.
