They were my most listened to band for a few years in highschool, and 20+ yrs later I still really dig it, I just dont listen to it as much...but it still stands the test of time.
But as far as other bands acomplishments, nobody can claim the influence they had, they were the first....but Motorhead has put out as many quality albums and their brand of Metal has, in my opinion, influenced all aggressive genres of Metal and Punk, so they are a close second. - Larsson_fan
Between this and Chilli's Sabbath-talk, there's a lot of sense being made here. |

I'm super intrigued to see what Botterill thinks of certain guys (Kane, Reinhart especially). He's been coy so far, but I'm thinking his moves will tell us the story. - Deuce81
Maybe... it'll still be tough to tell
For example:
Maybe he'd trade Kane for Fowler, but not Muzzin
We'd only know "how he feels" about Kane though if the Ducks would accept the trade though

Yes, that's true. I do like the fact that he won't have a connection to any of the players in the way that Murray likely felt with Reinhart (his first pick) and Kane (his trade). |

I'm not high on Muezzin either. - PrinceChill
Struggled a bit this season...
but I think he's pretty good
The best fit for Risto's partner that we could potentially trade for is Brodin
Regardlesss of some of his crazy opinions,
Matt Collar was on WGR this morning making a lot of sense
Risto was asked to be the "front of the net" guy last year, bc we had no one else really... which took away from him being able to get the puck up the ice & skate it out of the zone
That drastically limited his effectiveness imo
This is why I brought up Alzner earlier this season
Now, maybe Alzner just isn't good enough... ok
But Brodin is that "defense first" type that could end up being the perfect partner to allow Risto the freedom to use his talents more
My top 2 targets this offseason are Brodin & Manson
Brodin-Risto
McCabe-Manson
Guhle/Antipin/Bogosian(don't think we can get rid of him)

The problem with Brodin is that like Alzner this reputation hasnt been backed by actual results.
Thats not to say he isnt good defensively, but unless the price tag comes down it will look a lot like the Hall Larsson trade. Way too much value being given

I think 9/10 GMs would've taken Reinhart 2nd in that draft
How much different is our opinion of Murray if we had gotten Ekblad & McDavid instead of Reinhart & Eichel?
Imagine Ekblad or Risto on our 2nd pair!
That would be something |

Brodin usually plays the right side
edit: at least back when he used to play with Suter |

We need a badass on D. Risto is the man but we need a thug back there to help with the fear factor. Gorges was supposed to do that but he's kind of a wussy, and slow as crap. |

Yeah, but Minny being in such a tough spot helps demand come down
Also, this narrative that "EVERYONE will be looking to improve their defense"
While that's true in theory...
In actuality, they all don't have open slots to protect a defenseman they could trade for- thus, turning "everyone" into just a "few"
That helps us too,
bc there will be more sellers than buyers
Another thing that can help is our Cap space
With Minny for example,
we can take Pommer back in a deal to help them with their Cap & also so that can protect Zucker
Or we can take Nash from NyR so they can protect a young forward
And so on |

He plays both from what I've heard from Minny fans,
But usually the left side
I think it was Spurgeon who was usually paired with Suter
Regardless...
Brodin is a LH shot, so I'm pretty confident he'd be ok on the left side |

Yeah it was Deslauriers, but for some inexplicable reason, he was moved to the wing from defense. |

I laughed in real life to this (shout out to gerbs) |

I don't hate the idea of Brodin. He's going to be 24 next month and theoretically still developing and getting better. |

Oh, no doubt. I'll never blame Murray for taking Reinhart there. I do wonder what would've happened if he had his choice of Reinhart or Ekblad though.

Apparently according to some Murray would have passed on Ekblad.
Not sure how true, but I do remember him talking down Ekblad's potential once |

Right but the same question marks exists about brodin and whether he can really hack it on a top pair. theoretically they should compliment each other well but i dont know that brodin really brings enough shot suppression and defensive work.

I know he said they had Reinhart 1st on their board,
but I think that was just lip service
Ekblad was the clear #1 in that draft
And Murray had plans to tank hard for McEichel the next year |

No, we need a puck moving point scoring super power on D. Risto is the stay at home minute eating D Man. He's Seabrook. I'm just the first to see it. |

One is a defenceman who at the end of the day could be become a franchise defenceman. He may be a solid, very solid, two-way defenceman that plays a ton of minutes. I’m not sure if he has the dynamic kind of pace to him to be a franchise kind of player, but he’s going to be a helluva player. He’s going to be a really, really good defenceman for a long time in the league so he’s a consideration for the top pick. |

I think that was based on Murray saying that Sam was tops on his board
I think he was just saying that bc he didn't want to admit he was p!ssed about losing the lottery
He obviously couldn't hold back when it happened again the following year |

It would've surprised me quite a bit though |
