i dont think theres a single thing in there that is false per se.
some of it simply has to do with the long seasons. teams that know they are going to be in it really just dont have the incentive on a random night in january.
everyone knew this season was going to be golden state/cleveland. this is exactly what most people wanted to see. yes, it stinks in a way that it was so predetermined, but it doesnt make this finals that much more compelling. i can see the case for both ways. im not nearly as die hard for the NBA as i would be for the NHL. but this finals has me excited to watch, regardless of the outcome. - stayinthefnnet
The NBA almost seems to accept having a dull season/playoffs for the matchup they and public wants to see in the Finals. Whatever works I guess. |

It's two teams and then everyone else. I can't bother to get invested in a league where 95% of the teams dont have a shot and everyone knows it. |

The duo was put together by Dave Hakstol in late November and quickly became the team’s top pair, taking the most minutes and the toughest shifts on a nightly basis. And aside from some late-season lineup experimentation, the Provorov-MacDonald duo stayed together for the better part of four months.
Unsurprisingly, Provorov performed far better from a play-driving standpoint away from MacDonald. In those 823:11 minutes with him, Provorov posted a ghastly 46.9% Corsi For percentage, but was a strong 52.4% away from him. That’s the difference between a rookie season universally viewed as a success by the advanced stat community, and one viewed with justified skepticism."
