I'm not sure. I'd think they went ED-exempt players and picks. But Vatanen isn't what I'd got for. Too much money and too long of a term. I'd rather get guys on shorter terms or lower cap hits. I don't want to block our young guys, just make it easier to work them in. That's how I view it. - jmatchett383
I don't see all our guys actually being good nhl players. I'm skeptical on a guy like hagg. I'd flip him for somebody already established as a quality nhl player. Dumba whomever. I know we would have to add but a price not that steep I'd take it. Makes us better today. I don't trade any our prize d prospects (sanheim Myers provy).

Yea I argued that very point last week, but I keep thinking that we have a chance to add a legit top 4 d-man thats NHL proven you have to look in to it.

I see Hagg as a set him and forget him type. Not a game-changer, but a guy who can play well at ES and PK within a good structure.

Surely. But if you can get a bottom-3 guy on the cheap or a top-2 guy for a steep bargain (i.e. 15% off of all 10-carat diamond rings), I'd go with the former. Worth exploring, though.
Would anyone have interest in taking 1 year of Beiska at 4mil(you help out Anaheim for the epansion draft) if you were able to get back a prospect like Max Jones or a 2nd rounder?
I know people don't want to block prospects but I think a vet like him isn't a terrible idea next season. i still think you could see: Provorov, Gostisbehere, Gudas, Morin, Hagg and then Beiska. Then try to really move MacDonald or keep him as a 7th dman.
Is it worth it to get a higher end prospect or 1st or 2nd rounder?

Do not want Max Jones. He's the next Steve Downie.

this team need a top 2 guy more so than a bottom guy. That would help everyone around play in a more comfortable spot. besides come the summer many bottom guys lingering. Maybe you get both.
I don't buy into the blocking mantra. If your good enough I have too think they will find a spot.
