what has mcnabb done in la? - Michael Pachla
*McNabb and 2 2nd rd picks for a Enforcer and a guy who hasn't cracked the lineup yet.
Its a bad trade so far. Fasching im still holding out hope for. IMO he needs to prove it this year or he is gone. |

Tell me about it. That trade looks horrible looking back, unless somehow Fasching becomes a different player. - mattsox
I hate it to. I'm not sure why Murray saw those two a being worth two 2nds and McNabb. And McNabb is still the "best" player of the deal lol |

What does my view on Kane have to do with Muzzin being a better player?
If this was polled outside of Buffalo, I'm not sure many if any people think Kane would be the better player - sbroads24
I don't know two different positions! Lol but I would agree that most if not all would trade for muzzin and it's just not talent but kane as a teamate and off ice issue's! If L.A offers Jake muzzin at the age, contract, and what he brings to the Sabres, you take it and run! imho |

So what? We got shafted in the trade that them sent McNabb for DeLo and Fasching. - mattsox
It kills me how people on this board act like we traded Booby Orr for Delo and Fasching, McNabb was a healthy scratch for quite a few games and played 4-6 the rest of the time. We still don't know what we have in Fasching, considering last year was his rookie season and he suffered a tough injury.
Development people, it is the cornerstone of great hockey teams. |

I see your point. The trade has been pretty much a wash. Not sure what those 2 second round picks turned into. I haven't researched that part of it. |

Well I said earlier that adding muzzin, Antipin, and a free agent, B.smith, I mentioned him for the age ,size, and a RH dman that plays 20 odd mins a night! He was on Detroit top pairing and looked good for the rangers in the playoffs! Not bad muzzin, Antipin, Smith!Risto plus these guys are a pretty decent top 4 and you have plenty of bottom 6 paring to boot! |

Bots will likely start the year with the team we have right now plus maybe an fa added along the way, but from his comments I'd be shocked if he makes any big trades. He's taking the rational approach of "let's get our new coach here and see what the guys we have now can do without Disco Dan botching things up". I seriously think the team we have (if healthy) will surprise a lot of people.
Then we make a tdl move for Kane if he doesn't want to sign, and try to get whatever we can for the likes of Ennis, Bogo or whomever else might be needing a change of scenery or crapping the bed. |

Jason Botterill is the GM, and we haven't hired our coach yet, Jack is just a player, he doesn't make the decisions, as he has stated every time a reporter asks him about his involvement in Bylsma's firing. - macman9

Yup.
I don't get the backlash
The Sabres biggest issue was defense, by a mile.
Once Eichel was back they scored some goals, still couldn't defend.
You get a chance to add a guy like Muzzin and you do it |

Ya I pretty much agree! But I think if a deal for Kane come along that's good he'll move him other than that your right the coach and him will have to see a healthy! !! Sabres squad to properly assess the team |

I would do the Kane for Muzzin trade if it was available, I don't think LA would have trouble signing Kane if the Brown and #1 trade to Vegas happens.
Then, I would call Nashville to see if they were interested in getting younger in goal and see if they had interest in Lehner, if so , I would ask for Arvidsson, RFA for RFA.
Then I would call Dallas and offer to take Niemi's contract off their hands for a swap of first round picks. We get #3, they get #8
Then I would call Vegas and offer to swap first round picks with them, A #2 pick and Josh Georges and they take Moulson in the Expansion draft.
I would then call Cal Petersen's agent and explain how the path to the NHL just got clearer if he signs with Buffalo and plays 1 year in Rochester, I think Ullmark and Niemi could hold down the fort for 1 year.
I would buyout Ennis.
I tried to be as Garth as I could...lol |

then you'd need to get franking plastered for a month straight! also if you're calling Nashville then ask if they'd like Reinhart and the 8th pick for saros and ellis? |

he was on the top pairing in 2014 and was on the second pairing last season...that's a bit of a drop
and...
I mentioned that I liked muzzin and his game...just pointing out, like people often do here, is that his team didn't make the playoffs in two of the last three seasons...
you still didn't address the fact that you have always hated kane on the sabres and this post does nothing to change my view on that - Michael Pachla
If we acquire Muzzin, people will be all over him like they are with bogosian. He has shown he is a 3rd or 4th defensemen, and only thrives when he plays with doughty. If it wasn't for Kane's issues(which are literally nothing) no one would even be completing Kane for Muzzin.
I for one do not feel like getting older and slower.
They need to shred dead cap this season, not acquire another contract that we will soon regret.
-talk to Vegas, see if they are looking at Ennis, if they are not looking at Ennis, make a deal with them to take Ennis.
-Do what they can to move Bogosian, I have a feeling a naive GM will still take a chance on him if the price is low.
-call Arizona give them Moulson, retain half his salary this year, and a 3rd round pick for a 4th round pick. Next year his salary is only 3 million, and they love players with low salaries and bigger cap hits.
-Draft BPA
-Sign two vet defensemen to play along with Risto, McCabe, Antipin, and Gorges(he is on the last year of his contract, no need to move him in the offseason) |
